Book Name: The Night of Feral Bloblings Author: Caspen Nosleep III Genre(s): Horror Excerpt: Eks was rolling through the Sourglow Swamp, his nightly commute. It was pitch black, even despite the faint light of the Glow Grapes. Bwip, bwip, bwip went the muddy water onto the cold, squishy ground. He could almost imagine the soft innards of bloblings, draped carnally along the branches of the trees, their blood tapping out the thick melody. Bwip. Bwip. Bwip. Through the darkness, there was nothing to occupy his frantic mind. Nothing to preserve his sanity on this road to safety. He began to see eyes in the trees, eyes hiding behind bushes. Giant, reddish-yellow, bloodshot eyes, never blinking, never swaying their gaze from his small, cylindrical form. Collapsing on the ground, a terror overcame him. Something malicious was here, in this forest, and it was coming for his soul. Something...blob-shaped. Stumbling wide-eyed through the swamp, giving the look of a half-starved madman, he swore to kill the evil force, whatever it was. If it's the last thing I do, he thought. If it's the last thing I do. Synopsis: Based on a true story, The Night of Feral Bloblings is the sad story of a blob losing his mind and believing he is the only one with sanity. Excerpt: The first thing you'll want in your room is a bed or place to sleep. This is actually not that hard to create, and there are many options. I personally went with a hammock made out of the inner threads of the poffdula tree, hung by the ceiling, but here's a few others: 1. Find a wheeple and harvest its wool. It's soft, easy to find, and not detrimental to the fauna. This can be used as either a pillow or the bed itself. 2. If you're feeling more adventurous, go out and try to find a lambfruit tree. The cotton these fabled trees supply is rumored to be even softer than wheeple wool, and comes with a snack. It naturally heats up, keeping you warm all night, and the ram horns that come with it can have other uses. Enjoy your new bed, and have a good night's sleep!

Book Name: Beasts of Alavest (Adventures in the world of Imoko and the Beast of Kainin)
Written By: Val (With Playtesting by Kiv, Vin & Van)
Genre: Entertainment / Gaming (Action/Fantasy)
Synopsis: Synopsis: This is a game for up to 4 players in the continuing adventures of "Imoko and the Beast of Kainin". Players can take control of Imoko, Haiya, Eclipse & Iverse as they battle waves of fearsome Beasts across the wilds and towns of Alavest. Search your environment for equipment and quest items, and defeat Beasts to level up and teach your characters new skills to survive the increasingly ferocious monsters!
This book will explain the core rules of the game, and give instructions on how to assemble the materials necessary to play. The board and cards can be cut and drawn on Papyrills, and smaller poffdula shells can be rolled as 'dice' for actions and abilities. Use shells, fruits or drawings for player and Beast tokens, or carve and make your own models based on designs in this book! Includes several pre-built scenarios, and instructions on how to make your own characters, maps and scenarios!
Excerpt: ---------------------------------------- Reading Your Character Card: Item Slots, Levels and Abilities
A character card will have 5 item slots: 2 are considered 'On Hand', and 3 are 'In Reserve', in a backpack or pocket. Almost all characters only have a random starting item in one of their On Hand slots. Any other items or equipment must be found by taking a Search action to draw the top card of the Item Deck.
When a player finds and keeps an Item, you must choose to place the item either On Hand, or In Reserve. You can only take Attack actions or use items that are currently On Hand, though some items (such as Armor or Ammo) will work while in reserve. You may take a Re-arrange action to move items in your inventory, as well as drop any you no longer want (dropped items are discarded). When you take a Search action, you may immediately Re-arrange if you choose to keep the item. You may also use an action to Trade with another character in Melee range, giving and taking any agreed upon items (and re-arranging as needed).
When your character takes damage, they lose some of their strength and can't carry as much. For each point of damage a character takes, choose one of your 5 item slots. Discard the item in that slot (if any), and place a 'Wounded' card there. An item slot with a 'Wounded' card cannot be used any more: a character with 5 Wounded cards is immediately Knocked Out, and Game Over happens once all characters are Knocked Out.
When a Beast is defeated, your character will gain a number of levels as stated in the Beast section. Characters start at Level 0 with 3 actions a turn, as well as their Blue (Level 0) skill. As your character hits certain levels, they gain the ability in that new section. If there is more than 1 ability (such as the 2 abilities in Orange, and the 3 abilities in Red), you must pick ONLY ONE of these abilities to use for the rest of the game. Consider the current scenario and the items & weapons you've found so far, and choose your later abilities carefully.
As an example, here are the abilities available for Imoko:
Blue (Level 0-6) Destiny When performing a Search action, a character with Destiny looks at the top 3 cards of the Item Deck. Choose up to 1 to place on your character, and discard the others.
Yellow (Level 7-18) +1 Action Your character may take an additional action on their turn (along with their base 3 actions/turn).
Orange (Level 19-42) (Choose One) Slippery A character with Slippery may move out of the melee range of any Beast without provoking an attack.
+1 Free Combat Action This character may take an additional combat action, along with their other actions.
Red (Level 43) (Choose One) We're In This Together! Once per turn, a character with We're In This Together! may spend an action to remove 1 Wounded card from a character in melee range.
+1 free Melee Action This character may take an additional Combat action with a melee weapon, along with their other actions.
+1 free Move Action This character may take an additional Move action, along with their other actions.
--------------------------------------------------- Length: About 200-250 pages. There are various sections for Rules, Drawing/Building Maps, Characters, Item Cards, Monster Cards and Stats, and how to go about building and balancing your own characters and maps/scenarios.
Appearance: The front of the book is reminiscent of Imoko and the Beast of Kainin: 4 bird-like creatures carrying various middle-age type weapons (One with a sword, one holding a mace and shield, one with a bow, and one holding 2 hand-held crossbows), posing towards the viewer while several beastly shadows lurk behind.

Book Name: Demi-Divine Discord Author: Sheldonna Genre(s): Fantasy / Adventure / Romance Excerpt: Chapter One:
My name is Heldana the Beautiful, Great, and Clever. I'm a demi-godborn Rainbowborn Snekkitborn. Some bloblings consider me the best of the best. The best of what? Everything. When I awakened into existence, all of the gods and godborns gathered and granted me special powers because they knew I had a great destiny and would go on many exciting adventures...
... All the Meowlers loved me because I was beautiful, great, and clever. They all wanted to follow me around, and Damazi was super jealous of me. I didn't want her to be too jealous, though, so I told her I wouldn't take over her job because I'm too busy to take care of all of these Meowlers. She was very relieved and even though she was jealous, she was happy to have me around and wanted to be my best friend forever. She gave me a lot of free Meowlers and told me I could have any Meowler I wanted anytime I wanted for free.
Dioscuri was tall and pretty and looked into my even prettier eyes.
"Sheldonna, Heldana, you're the most beautiful blobling I have ever seen, and you're so much more of a Snekkitborn than all those other Snekkitborns I've met. I think I'm hopelessly in love with you."
I gasped. "But Dioscuri, what about my great and important journey to find the mysterious figure in the Smiley Sands?"
"I'll go with you!" they said, dramatically.
I was the toughest fighter in the entire bounce arena. Red didn't stand a chance. He immediately hopped out of the Bounce Arena because he was so awed by such an extreme example of my amazing demi-godborn Rainbowborn Snekkitborn powers.
"You're the toughest fighter I've ever seen!" Red said. "And so beautiful!"
My sidekick, Green, nodded in agreenment.
I blushed. "Aw, you bloblings-"
A new challenger appeared! I GASPED. It was Terrim with his glistening muscles shining brighter than all the stars in Terrea.
"Terrim, wow, you're so handsome," I said.
Terrim was immediately impressed with me and wanted to bleed new bloblings with me. But it wasn't bleeding season, and I was still on my great and exciting adventure to the Smiley Sands. Dioscuri was super jealous.
Oh no! Dioscuri and Terrim are fighting because they both love me so much because of how beautiful, great, and clever I am. What ever will I do? I can't just stop them because I'm way more powerful than they are, and they could get hurt.
"Stop, you guys! Why can't we all just love each other?"
"I love you more than he does!" Dioscuri said, dramatically.
"NO! I LOVE YOU MORE!" Terrim shouted.
I woke up suddenly gasping for breath. Phew. It was all just a dream.
Or was it?
Synopsis: Heldana the Beautiful, Great, and Clever is the demi-godborn Rainbowborn Snekkitborn result of a bleeding between Yume and a mysterious Snekkitborn that wanders the Smiley Sands on a dark quest of revenge. Eager to discover her origins, Heldana the Beautiful, Great, and Clever sets out on an exciting journey to find the mysterious Snekkitborn of the Smiley Sands. Along the way, she'll meet her sidekick, Green, and fall hopelessly in love with the gorgeous Dioscuri. But what's this? A challenger for her love arrives in the form of Terrim, and he will stop at nothing to fight for the affections of Heldana the Beautiful, Great, and Clever's heart. Who will Heldana ultimately choose? And what will her mentor, the great god of chaos, Eris, think? Length: 500 Pages Appearance: The cover depicts a mysterious shadowy figure in the background surrounded by a setting of the Smiley Sands. The main character, Heldana the Beautiful, Great, and Clever (who looks suspiciously like a highly Evo'd form of the author, Sheldonna, except EVEN MORE COLORFUL and sparkly) is on the front of the figure looking thoughtful and elegant. There is a thought bubble in the corner depicting Dioscuri and Terrim.

Book Name: Old World Memories Author: Attoicus Genre(s): an interactive book where people can wright in it Excerpt: Cats a creature like meowlers, but with fluffy faces and simpler looking. No horns, or weird markings, or crazy colors, just a simple, small, fluffy creature that was an affectionate pet. (has a sloppy sketch next to it of what he remembers cats to look like. It looks slightly different from real cats, but he was pretty close.) ~Atto Family When two people are related, meaning they both came from the same parents. It can also be between those who aren't related, but it is not literal that way, it is just used to describe a strong bond between them. ~Aki Star Signs Symbols represented by different mythical creatures and animals; 12 of them each connected to a different symbol; depending on a certain factor (That I unfortunately cannot remember), you were put into one of the 12 symbols; the only one I remember the name of is Aquarius, which was in some way connected to water. ~Aguarius Synopsis: Do you have strange memories that you have that you have only told a few, maybe even none? Do you wanna share your thoughts, telling others what you remember from, what I've heard it as being called, the "Old World"? Well then flip open this book and write what you remember, as well as a brief explanation of it, and optionally your own name next to it. Simple as that! Length: A large booklet filled with black pages to be filled by people. It is fairly thick to start, but if and when it fills up, Atto will add more paper. Appearance: a simple cover with all six stars handing in an arch at the top of the page with a small rectangular cut paper is hanging off the top to keep the current place of the book. A note is written on the small paper explaining to keep it on the most recently written on page, and to move it when you get to the next page. Written By: Val (Playtested by Vin, Kiv, Vana, and players like you!)
Synopsis: Since Beasts of Alavest has been released, several players have been bringing up various rules questions, concerns, and possible additions. I'm LOVING the enthusiasm, and would like to make some of these changes official. Inside, you'll find some clarification on the more obscure rules, as well as changes to some characters, skills, and items.
Haiya Level 0 Skill Old: +1 Move Action New: Matching Set When a character with Matching Set finds and keeps a one-handed item, you may search the Item deck for a 2nd copy of that card, then shuffle the deck. (Note that this also includes the randomly assigned item when you start the game, so a character with Matching Set can potentially start with 2 Daggers or 2 Hand Crossbows.)
~~Val's Notes:~~ Many players & my own play-testers have noted that Haiya just doesn't feel as strong as the other characters, and tends to not be played unless all other characters are taken. I'd like to make sure that all 4 characters are equally viable, and considering how hard this game can be, I'd like to balance by bringing Haiya up to speed with the rest of the characters.
First, we're changing his starting skill from +1 move action (which many players simply don't seem to like early game) for a new skill, Matching Set. This can be used to find additional one-handed items to either give to other players, or keep for yourself to dual-wield. Notably, it also includes your starting item, so 3 of the 4 starting items (dagger and 2 crossbows) can be immediately dual-wielded from the start with Matching Set, making Haiya much better at slaying multiple weaker Beasts. The other change is to one of the Orange options, Deadly Precision, noted on page 12.
Deadly Precision Old: Ranged attacks this character makes deal +1 damage New: Ranged attacks this character makes always deal 3 damage
There's no guarantee of drawing a 3 damage ranged weapon (There's only, like, 2 of them in the entire deck), and even the selection of 2 damage ranged weapons are limited. I personally think it's OK for melee to deal more damage than ranged in most cases, but a Haiya who takes Deadly Precision means the party has some breathing room in the mid game once high damage is needed, and fills a much-needed niche of consistently dropping high health Beasts at range.
Between Matching Set and the change to Deadly Precision, Haiya can potentially dual-wield hand crossbows as early as Level 0, then use nothing but those the entire mission by taking Deadly Precision at Level 19 and allowing other high-damage weapons to go to other characters.
Book Name: Song of the Chromillia Author: Bellabi (Blubi) Genre(s): Fantasy, Adventure, Tragedy Excerpt: The stars twinkled beautifully that fateful night, as Naife slowly but surely climbed over the sandy trenches. Tired and fatigued, he barely noticed the giant tree until it was right in front of his face, with a sad, forced smile and faded petals. Curious, and feeling pitiful for the tall flower, he decided to keep it company, as weird as that may sound, keeping a flower company, but he enjoyed it regardless. Resting his blobby paws, he curled up by the tree, softly humming a lullaby before falling asleep. Faintly, he thought he heard the sound of his song echoing in his ears, but perhaps that was just his imagination... Synopsis: A young and naive little blobling explores Terrea for the first time and comes across a wilting Chromillia flower, long suppressed and bullied by other mischievous bloblings. After comforting, befriending and singing to the flower until it bloomed more beautifully than any other Chromillia flower ever did, the little blobling departed for a tale of his own. But years later, when the blobling is betrayed by his fellow bloblings and banished from his home, how will the two interact once more? Length: Novella - 84 pages, 32,548 words Appearance: The book itself is 5.5″ x 8.5″ in dimensions, with a pale blue background colour and a simple title, blurb and caption in white. A circular image of Naife, the protagonist, and the Chromillia flower are depicted on the front cover, smiling at each other. The general appearance is quite gentle and light-hearted.
