Bloblings have noticed mysterious, gooey bloblings popping up in the world. Many bloblings are weary of them because of their resemblance to the tar from the tar pits, which have been known to eat bloblings for something called 'breakfast'.
01/10/23 Hey there!
It's October now!
We've updated the Art Prompts and Writing Prompts with some new stuff for October, as ever. It's spoooooOOOOoopy season now, and our prompts have been updated appropriately! Go take a look.
It's going to be a Bleeding Season this month! New droplets will be being born at the end of next month. Get thinking about what kinds of bloblings you want to stick into some bleeds, because the Season will be releasing within the first week of the month!
We have some fun things planned for this month, but we'll be sort of sprinkling them throughout. We hope you'll like them!
Our Discord server is invite only. Please DM Ichor or Saerfall after you've submitted your blobling claim form, and we'll send you an invite link. We spend most of our time on our Discord, so if it seems quiet here, we're probably all sequestered away in our server.
Jasper listened as the red spiky blob cried and blubbered. "My-My house! House it's-It's bro-ken. A-a tre-eee fee-eeell on it!"
Jasper could barely understand the poor blob that looked to be about ready to fall over.
Jasper sat down and put one of his paws on the blobs shoulder. "Calm down. Now take a deep breath and tell me what happened."
The blob took a deep breath. " I, I don't know what happened but I was making my favorite dish of Skitterpud tails and suddenly the bleeding heart tree that stood in front just fell over. And it hit the house and and there was a branch-and it almost popped me!"
Despite how fast the blob was talking he was able to make out what the blob was saying. Jasper looked directly into the blobs watery yellow eyes. "It's going to be ok. You weren't popped. Let's go to your house and see if there is anything to be done about this tree."
The blob took them through a dryer part of the swamp. Jasper walked next to the blob listening as the blob talked about all his recipes and where to get the ingredients for them.
Finally they made it to the house. Jasper walked all around it and then flew up to the roof to a better idea of just what he was dealing with. It wasn't that big of a tree but it sure had done a lot of damage when it came down. But if he got the right leverage he might just be able to get the tree off the house. He cautiously stepped on what was left of the roof. The main beam seemed to be solid still. So he got his shoulders under the tree trunk and bracing himself pushed. The tree was a lot heavier then he thought. And his legs were shaking by the time he got the tree all the way off the house. He walked down the beam with the tree trunk on his back. When he got to the edge of the roof he found he did not have the strength to heave it over the edge. He flapped his wings as hard as he could which was kinda of awkward with a tree on his back but it added just enough lift that he was able to dump the tree on the ground below.
He took some time for his muscles to stop aching so much and then he flew down next to the tree. "See I told you I could get it down for you." Jasper said.
"Oh thank you! Thank you. " The red blob exclaimed then he ran into the house and quickly came back out. He held out a almost circular plate out to Jasper. "Here take this as a thank you." Jasper looked down and noticed that this was the Skitterspud that the blob had been making.
Jasper tucked his wings as close to his side as he possibly could and made for the goal at the other end of the field. But when he got half way there a Flying black thing came at him. He threw himself on the ground and rolled to one side. Several more things flew at him causing him to roll to the other side. He could fell the things bumping into him as he rolled this way and that. He found a space in the attacks to get up and sprint to the other side. Once again he had to throw himself to the ground to get away. This time he was in a position to just keep rolling toward the goal. The attacks became more focus and he had to tuck his face more in order to protect it. But he finally made it to the other side. He jumped up. "Yes!!! I made it. That was so fun. Lets do it again!" The two Bonboo pets, one a black and one an orange, both of the round verity just dipped and swooped in glee. They flew to the boulder they had been hiding, ready to go again. Jasper flew over to the start. And once again sprinted. This time he would get faster.
Jasper walked along an almost nonexistent path through the swamp. His two bonboos flying about his head occasionally diving bombing him. At least once he thought about getting rid of them but he had grown to like them. And when he felt like flying they could keep up. Which in his mind made them great pets.
The wrestling sound of wrappers were his only warning that his pets were going to bombard him again. This time he decided to join in the fun. As they got closer he leapt into the sky. He looked behind him and noticed that he had taken them by surprise. They were hovering around the ground trying to figure out what happened.
It was his turn to dive bomb. Only he would try and a catch one. He pulled his wings close to his body and aimed at the orange round bonboo. With his wings folded like they were he would not be able to swerve if the bonboo saw him. Or if his aim was off.
He was just about to grab the bonboo when it sensed him. And with a lot of flapping of it's wrappers it managed to get out of the way.
Jasper had just enough time to throw his wings wide open to attempt to slow him down. But it wasn't enough. He hit the soggy ground and to absorb the impact he had to roll. He lay on his side while he waited for the swamp to stop whirling around him. Then He got up, shook himself.
"Well, that didn't go well. I guess I need to practice." And he leapt back into the air.
Jasper raced across the red sands. He could fly if he wanted to but he loved the feeling of the sand on his paws. His ever present bonboos flew erratically behind. There wing wrappers flapping crazily as they tried to keep up with the racing blob. Jasper let out a whoop as he took a leap into the air. His wings assisting to get him higher. He landed with a plop and a laugh. This was sooo fun! He raced off again going another direction. And once again leapt into the air only this time he stopped to hover. There was something big in the distance. What was it?
Without waiting for his pets he flew toward the creature. As he got closer he realized that what ever this creature was it was Huge. It stood easly 4 times what he did if he was standing on the ground and not in the air. He noticed that its nose was star shaped and with the way it was making snuffling noses that it probably had good smell. He also noticed that not once did it open its eyes. Curious.
Jasper landed and slowly made his way over to the big creature. It would be neat to see if he could tame this creature. It would probably come in handy.
It was at this time that his bonboos caught up and seeing a new creature they started bombarding it around it's face. Startled the Terreden backed up. But it wasn't very fast and Jasper could only watch in horror as the terreden went from slow and not caring to getting more and more annoyed until it started swiping at the pets.
Jasper flew up into the air and tried to shoo his pets away. But now the terreden was focusing almost all its attacks on him. As it sensed the bigger flying creature. Now it was Jasper that was dodging swipes.
Jasper went flying when one of terreden's paws found it mark. After spitting sound of his mouth. He got up. He had not wanted to fight. Maybe he needed to just leave. Maybe his pests of pets would leave the poor Terreden alone if they realized he was leaving.
Besides he had places to go see. He had heard about 2 places in this great place and he intended to find them.
Jasper was lost. As lost as he had ever been in his short life on Terrea. And it was great! He loved seeing new places and new creatures and new, well everything. He was hoping he was going in the right direction to find the meowler pens. He had taken his best guess started out. But between his pesty pets and that Terreden he was now truly lost. He didn't think he was running, or flying in circles but it was really hard to tell out here. The red sands were endless and was only dotted by large colorful smiling trees. Which were great fun at first. But getting hummed at all the time was starting to wear a bit thin.
He was walking as flying over endless red sand was getting boring and at least this way he could feel the warm sand on his paws, when instead of the grainy feeling he felt damp. He had been so lost in his own thoughts that he had not realized that he had come to the end of the smiley sands. He looked up expecting to find himself back in the swamps. But instead this land was kinda of darker then he remember the swamps being. And just up ahead there seemed to be a pool of blackness? This he had to check out.
He leapt into the air and flew the short distance to the pool and landed at it's edge. He leaned over and was surprised to find that this pool was not anything like the waters in the swamp. He poked his paw in and found that the black substance was a lot thicker and seemed to stick to his paw. Interesting. He did think about jumping into it but decided that he needed to know more about these black water pools.
He wondered around for a couple of numbers. Discovering that this land only had these pools and almost no blobs. He did meet a pure black blob who wanted him to tell her daddy he was mean. Which was just weird.
He was rounding the edge of one of the smaller black pools when he spotted a creature that seemed to be made out of the substance of the pools themselves.
He got closer. But just like last time his bonboos swooped in and started harassing the creature. Jasper did not want what happened last time to happen this time too.
He raced forward " No Don't" but it was too late. The black creature had already grabbed some of the black goop and was flinging it at his pets. And as annoying as there were at times he did not want them to get hurt. He flew directly into the path of one. It splat in the middle of his chest and stuck there. It felt cold a slimy. He didn't have time to think more about it as the creature was lobbing more black slime balls.
Jasper found it hard and rather fun to try and dodge the tar and herd his bonboos away from the black gooey creature. But after half a number he succeeded but not with out a lot of that tar substance stuck to him. He would need to find a pond, with real water in it pretty soon.
Jasper found that it was a whole lot harder to get this black goop off then he thought. Just finding a pool that was actual water was just as hard in this part of the world. But he must have passed a boundary or something because he started seeing less of those black pools and more small, very small pools of water. So far these pools were much to small for him to do more then dip a toe in which did not really help getting himself clean. But if the black pools were getting fewer then maybe he was going in the right direction.
He kept walking. The last hit had hit him in one of his wings and it made it dangerous to fly with his wings so unbalanced. So he walked. His bonboos flapping behind him. They too were going to need a bath and he was not looking forward to that.
At last he came upon a pool of fresh plain old water and enough of it he could soak his whole body in. He got in and soaked thinking that was all he had to do. But this was very stubborn stuff and he found he had to scrub to get any head way. At last he was clean. But the pool was no longer pristine. He would have to find another to was his pets in.
Jasper thought he had like this sandy place but it was starting to wear on him. This was the second-or maybe the third time he ended up here. On the plus side his bonboos were staying farther away since their bath. He had a feeling it wouldn't last long so he was going to enjoy this time of being unharnessed by flying candies. He had gotten tired of flying so now he trudged through the sand. He still found that he enjoyed the feeling of warm sand on his paws. In the distance he could see one of the many smiley trees raising up from the red sands. It would be good to stop and rest even with that annoying humming the plants seem to make.
He was about half way there when the sands erupted outward, throwing Jasper and half burying him in sand. A creature twice his size and what looked to be both furred and feathered climbed out of a hole that was fastly filling up with sand, crawled out.
He had seen these before from a distance and both times they seemed friendly. But this one radiated anger. The gems on its head glowed red. Jasper could feel himself becoming angry and he struggled to tamp it down. He knew that anger can make a blob make mistakes.
Jasper climbed out of the sand. The small grains fell off his body. He made a shooing motion to he bonboos and for once they actually obeyed.
The Camivian saw the motion and took it as an attack. It pounced forward and swiped at Jasper with it strong claws. Jasper dodged to the right and then flew up. He figured he would have an easier chance to dodge if he was in the air. Which turned out to not to be the case. No sooner was he in the air then the camivian lunged for him. He quickly flapped backward and the camivian barely missed him. It's sharp beak clacking shut just shy of his black wings. Jasper climbed higher in the sky. He hoped that he would have a chance to look around before the camivian took the air. An idea had just come to him. All the camivians that he had ever come across had always seemed friendly. So that meant that maybe......
Ah there. Jasper dived, but not on the camivian but on a bright yellow and blue blob that had been hiding in the shadow of the camaivian.
Jasper didn't have much time before the camivian found him.
"You need to stop your Giant bird before someone gets hurt!" Jasper shouted as he shook the blob. But the blob grinned up at him.
"Why should I? I like it!"
Jasper stepped back. This was a feral. The crazy grin said it all.
Jasper had only ever seen one other feral and that one could not sting a sentence together. But it had the same blood thirsty grin on its face. It was the first blob Jasper ever popped and he still had nightmares about it. But he knew deep down that it had been necessary.
The blob's maniacal smile grew even wider. Jasper had sensed the camivian coming up behind him. He knew that he would not have enough time to dodge. He steeled himself as best as he could. He knew that with the sharp claws of the camivian it could easily pop him. He turned sideways just as the camivian took a swipe at him. There was nothing he could do. It happened so fast he thought he had imagined it. But as he saw the claw come arcing toward him he steeled himself for the hit. And just before the hit made contact his body became rigid like a rock. Instead of the claw ripping him in half he was flung out into the sands. He hit hard. He got up shakely. Well that was his own fault. He took his eyes off the more dangerous enemy. He would have to deal with this. He could not let a feral blob ruin such an beautiful bird. But first he would need to lure the camivian away far enough so that he would have time to deal with the blob.
He flew into the air and started to fly around the camivian dodging all the swipes and becoming as annoying to the camivian and the bonboos did to him. Soon the camivian joined him in the air and he started to lead the large bird away. When he had brought the bird as far as he could and still be able to know where the blob was he raced back. The camivian on his tail. But he Jasper knew that he would have time. He took aim at the blob and dived. He hit the blob with his claws out and the blob was turn nearly in too. Its bright green blob spilled out onto the sands.
Jasper could hear the camivian howl with rage and pain as it's blob was popped. Jasper knew that his staying would not help the camivian. So he fled the scene and flew ever deeper into the red sands. His bonboos not far behind him and struggling to keep up.
Jasper ran through the swamps. His bonboos flapping around his head the noise of their wings making white noise in his ears. He had lost the camivian awhile ago. He hoped that by popping the blob the camivian would return to normal and live out it's life hunting for gems instead of blobs. But now he was on the look out for a burger bush. But all he had seen was a button bush and lots of the glow grape vines. It could be that he was to far from any major city. He didn't know exactly where he was at the moment but he knew that if he ran around he was bound to find something.
And find something he did. But it was not what he wanting. Jasper put his foot down on air and before he knew it he had tumbled into a rather deep pool. Jasper felt the water close in over his head as he started to sink. With great powerful strokes with his wings he shot up out of the pool and into the air. He hovered over the pool as he caught his breath. Having an unexpected dunk was not on his to do list for the day.
Maybe it would be good to figure out where he was. He flew up high and slowly spun around. It was swamp for as far as he could see. He picked a direction and continued on his search.
Soon he could see a tall structure growing as he got closer. That must be the city. And where there was a city there should be some burgerbushes. When he was sure he would be able to see the building from the ground he landed. His orange and block bonboos flew around his head like pesky flies. Here there was an abundant amount of bleeding heart trees. And soon enough he found a burgerbush nestled up against and Blackheart tree that bore strange scratch marks on its trunk.
Jasper harvested the burger and fries from the bush and sat down with his back to the tree and started to eat. Savoring every bite.
Jasper felt full of energy after eating the burger and fries. He did not feel like going into the city. No room to run. So he turned to the direction of the mountains. At least he hoped it was. He could see them from here. But he knew that if he went to in the opposite direction he would be once more in the endless red sands. So after a number he took off running. But soon running was getting boring so he decided to work on his speed. He would sprint from one bleeding heart tree to the next. Trying to run faster each time. It was hard to tell if he was getting faster as the distance to each tree varied. He did this until he reached the end of the swamps and was greeted with the sight of the mountains. At this point he just ran. His bonboos fluttering madly trying to keep up.
Jasper felt in awe of the shear size of the mountain. It was way to high for him to fly over. So he once again took off running. He aimed his sight at a tall boulder farther up the path. By the time he got there his legs were trembling and if he had longs he would have been out of breath. Jasper sat down and rested. He didn't think he was so out of shape. After all he ran or flew here from the smiling sands. Less then half a number he got up and stared down at the mountain path. Maybe this would be a good time to get his stanima up. If he practiced getting fast with just this first leg of the trip then the rest of the trip should be no problem.
Jasper ran back down to the foot of the trail. His bonboos fluttering along beside him. Then he turned and raced back. He kept a running count in head.
"And 246" Jasper gasped out as he fell to the ground. His legs aching once again. He waited for his legs to stop feeling like jelly and then made his way back down.
Once again he raced up the trail. This time he managed to shave off 15 numbers off from his last count. Jasper did this for a few numbers. His bonboos had grown bored after the first number and was quietly sitting atop the boulder waiting for Jasper to be done with his training.
Jasper quickly found out that Orange did not like to be picked up and much preferred to walk. Thank you very much. He still could not believe just how wicked those claws were. So here he was, walking again. He was ok with walking. And running but he was beginning to miss flying but he didn't want to leave his meowler on the ground when he would not be able to protect him. And he was getting tired of the attitude of his meowler. Why couldn't he get a cuddly one, or a brave one. Or even a goofy one would have been better then this this snooty attitude. Orange always seemed to have his nose in the air like he was better then ever one else. Which is why he was standing in front of a log actually thinking about walking over it instead of flying to the other side.
The look that Orange had given him when had mentioned 'helping' the meowler across by a quick pick up and fly had riled him up. Orange had proceeded to walk across the narrow log and across to the other side and was now looking at him with that nose in the air that seemed to be mocking him. Well He would show his meowler that he could walk across too.
Jasper started across. putting one foot in front of the other and not looking down He stared at his meowler and dared him to say anything. Jasper was only a couple of steps across that he realized that log was tappered so that the skinner end was at the other end and the trunk was getting narrower. Well if his meowler could do it so could he. And he almost did. He was three fortths of the way across when his back for slipped off the log and the next thing he knew he was dangling by one claw and looking down at the bottom of the ravine. Sharp rocks jetted up from the bottom and made it look like it was trying to eat him. He tried several times to pull himself up but in the end he had to give up. He let go and spread his wings and flew up out of the revine and onto the path next to his meowler.
His meowler scoffed at the dirt with his hind feet and walked down the path. Jasper knew that he was going to have a problem with that meowler.
"I bet I can hit that" Jasper pointed to a bleeding heart fruit hanging high above his head, "with this rock." Jasper bragged. A fist sized rock was held firmly in his hand. Orange just looked at him for a moment and then at the fruit and then back at him. For some reason Jasper was pretty sure his meowler didn't believe him. Maybe it was the way his meowlers nose rose just a little more then normal or the fact that he had actually rolled his eyes.
Jasper tossed the rock in the air a couple of times to test the weight of it and then threw the rock. The rock sailed through the air and hit the heart shaped fruit. The fruit burst open and blue and green juice sprayed every where. There wasn't much of the fruit its except for the stem and a little stubborn black scrap hung on the tree.
"See, I told you I could hit it." Jasper said. Orange looked up at where the fruit use to be and then around the ground at the drops of bleeding heart juice. And then with his nose up in the air Orange walked deeper into the swamp. Jasper sidestepped around the mess and after his meowler. The orange and black bonboos zipping past him to go annoy the red and black meowler.
After a little while Orange stopped at a glow grape vine that was hanging from between and burger bush and a button bush. Orange touched one of the glow grapes with his nose and looked back at Jasper.
"Ah you think I can hit one of these do you." Jasper said with a toothy grin. Orange shook his head and then walked several paces away. And sat down. He tilted his head and looked at Jasper.
"Oh from over there? Hmm well I don't know? It is pretty small and that is farther away then when I hit the bleeding heart fruit."
Orange just sat and stared at Jasper.
"Oh ok. If it will make you happy." Jasper picked up a rock from the ground and strolled over to where his meowler was.
Once he got into place he lined his sight up to the very small green glowing grape and threw the rock. The rock missed the one he was aiming at but hit the button bush. Buttons of all sizes flew every where.
"Oops." Jasper said.
Orange just looked at him and walked off.
Jasper, Orange and the bonboos traveled the swamps. Stopping on occasion so that Jasper could practice his aim. Most of the time he was able to hit what he was aiming for. But there were times that he missed. Like the time when he was aiming for a fry from a burger bush and missed and hit the canimu instead. That had been fun.
A very well hand drawn image of a bleeding heart fruit was staring up at him from the book he was reading. This bleeding heart fruit was black just like all he other bleeding heart fruit but this one was malformed. Instead of heart shaped this one looked like a star. The author of the book mentioned that she had searched for 100 numbers before she found one.
Jasper had the sudden urge to go and see if there are any more weird looking bleeding. He closed the book and set it down. He didn't remember where he found it and so would let the Librarian put it back where it went.
"Orange its time to go." Jasper whispered loudly. Orange glanced at him from where she was curled up in one of the big chairs. The two bonboos resting on top of her.
When Jasper saw that he had caught her attention he jerked his head toward the door and then started walking. He had learned recently that if he walked away his meowler would come. But if he tried to force her to come she would dig her feet in. And sometimes quite literally.
He smiled when he heard the soft patter of her paws as she got down and followed him. He could hear the bonboos soft rustling that indicated that they too were following.
They searched the bleeding heart trees around the city but he did not find any misshapen fruit. Which he expected. If there had been one so close to where blobs came and went then he would have heard about.
Jasper went deeper into the swamp. Orange would sit at the base of a tree while Jasper flew up into the tree and inspected all the dangling heart shape fruit. But after lots and lots of number Jasper had not found a single deformed fruit.
Jasper soon found himself near the area where he had found the mountain trail. He sat down while he decided to which way he should go. Right or Left?
Orange grew tired while she waited and finally decided to decide for Jasper. She got up and started walking to the left. Jasper shrugged and followed. It didn't hurt to follow his meowler. He really didn't have any idea of the best way to go and figured that it didn't really matter.
Jasper followed Orange and the bonboos dived bombed both of them. Orange passed by two bleeding heart trees without stopping. Jasper looked over both of them but had to catch up with Orange. Orange finally stopped and sat down. Her face pointing straight up in the air. At first Jasper thought she was just being her snooty self but when he looked up into the tree he saw what she was pointing at.
A black bleeding heart fruit hung on a branch about half way up the tree. But this fruit was twice the size of a normal one and instead of a heart shape it looked star like.
Jasper noticed that the fruit was hanging on a rather large stem. Could he knock this fruit out the tree without actually hitting the fruit itself? Jasper picked up one of the many rocks that lay scattered around on the ground. He had been practicing as he had been searching and so he was fairly confident in his ability to hit the stem only. He aimed and threw the rock. The rock flew through the air and hit the tree branch the fruit was hanging from. The fruit bobbed up and down and swung from side to side. But the fruit did not fall.
He picked up a second rock and aimed and threw it. This time the rock hit the stem and the fruit plummeted to the swamp floor and straight for Oranges head. Jasper lunged forward to try and catch but he knew he would not be fast enough.
The fruit land square on Oranges upturned face and split open on impact. Blueish green juice dribbled down the meowlers face. She slowly turned to Jasper and glared at him.
