After Orange chased him all over the swamp, Jasper found that he was actually tired. He truly had not meant for that fruit to hit his meowler. But maybe laughing at Orange had been the wrong thing to do. He could still remember the pain that she had inflicted when she finally caught up with him. But it had been worth it seeing the look on her face when she realized what had happened.
Jasper leaned up against the black bark of a bleeding heart tree and closed his eyes. He could hear Orange splashing in the water of a pool they had found. She must be cleaning herself off. He just needed to rest for a bit.
'Jasper slowly opened his eyes and was greeted with a green field of green grass. Growing out of the green grass were what looked like trees. But not the bleeding heart trees with their black trunks and heart shaped fruit. These ones seemed to have grown taller and where covered in lighter green leaves. And the trunks were a light brown color. He could tell that he was leaning up against one and it's skin was really rough. A breeze ruffled the tops of the trees making the branches dance and the light coming in through the leaves danced about. The sun light coming through made the little sun spots on the lawn.
Wait. There was no sun. So where was this place? He glanced around and noticed strange blobs standing, walking and running around. These blobs all looked the same. They had two arms and two legs. And they all were brown. Some were light brown almost to where he would say they were white and some of them were very dark. But they were all the same basic shape. What was going on?
Jasper quickly got up and found himself to be on two legs instead of four. And the wings on his back were absent. He almost fell over when he took a step. He looked down and noticed that his legs were just like the blobs in this field. Jasper could feel his heart pounding where was this place? What was this place? How did he get here? The questions just kept coming and he felt like he couldn't breath.'
Jasper jolted awake. A soaking wet Orange stood over him. Her front paw on his chest and her head cocked to one side like she was trying to figure something out. She and Jasper stared at each until Orange decided that Jasper was ok and she was done with the silly game. She hopped over him and found a relatively dry place and began to dry herself off. Jasper sat up. He was greeted with the familiar sight of the swamp and the sounds of the water in the pool. And the sky was the red that should be. He could only see the purple star but there was no sign of the yellow ball of light in the sky.
That other place seemed so real. He couldn't have dreamed all that up. Could he? He would need to investigate this farther and see if any other blob had had similar dreams.
