Terrean Fauna!
This is where we store all the currently known fauna on Terrea. Fauna are basically 'background animals', and are loosely categorized as animals who are either too mindless or wily to be kept as pets for very long. Animals classified as fauna are likely unable to form a strong attachment to a blobling.

![]() Prismermine Info: These are long, ferret-like creatures that soar through the skies like Chinese dragons do. They have short fur that ranges from black to red, and the stars that are in the Terrea night sky decorate it, shining just as they do in real life. These creatures have a bit of a one-track mind, in that they mostly just want to live their lives watching shiny things. Their coats shine like the stars in the sky, so they quite like seeing more of themselves and spend a lot of time just cyclically complimenting each other's fur. It can get quite annoying. One of their only memories of the old world is that the sky used to be much, much more shiny, so they spend their days trying to replicate that nostalgia. They can fly through sand as if it's air, and the insides of their mouths glow oppressively brightly with every colour of the rainbow. Because of this ability to travel so easily through the desert, they spend a lot of time with their mouth open, making the sands around them shimmer and glitter as they go. These creatures make ferret-like 'dooks' when they attempt to vocalize, and can be quite gregarious and mischievous at once. While they do spend most of their time underground, sometimes they like to weave in and out of the ground and pop up in front of unsuspecting bloblings, opening their mouths wide and blinding them. It's during these times that their 'dooks' sound much more like maniacal giggling. | ![]() Axolabeb Info: These creatures are scaley little swamp-dwelling friends who spend their time both on land and in the water, moving freely between the two. Their feet are webbed and tipped with needly little claws, which fall off often and regrow quickly. The nodes on their head are slightly transparent and, like their claws, fall off their body and regrow frequently. The same goes for their tail node! These nodes are edible and taste rather like what earthlings call 'sour keys', though most bloblings wouldn't be able to place the flavour. Their texture is gummy-like, but a little wet and squelchy, and when cooked they begin to taste a bit like meat. Some might compare the experience to lemon chicken... but then, they're bloblings, so they probably wouldn't. These creatures are often seen consuming glow grapes - once they do so, their nodes glow in the same colour as the glow grape they ate. Whoa! These lizard-like dudes are not especially friendly, and they avoid contact with bloblings when possible. They're very quick in the water because of their powerful legs and webbed feet, so usually they'll escape into the wet bits of the swamp if they see anybody approaching. |
![]() Wheeples Info: Wheeples are a peculiar creature that appears to be some kind of a mix of a sheep and a turtle, with a tough shell on their back. From beneath the shell, tufts of soft cotton-like fluff peek above the surface, providing warmth to itself and others. Various grains, currently wheat and rice, poke out from beneath the shell as well. Who knows what's going on underneath that shell... The fluff and grains are easily harvestable, grow back at a nearly instantaneous rate, and harvesting them doesn't injure the creature, though fully grown wheeples do naturally shed both products on a daily basis unless frequently harvested. Tearstain-like markings run from their eyes down their faces, and they make shrill wailing noises and sounds, giving off very mournful and distressed vibes even when the creature is perfectly content. With the ability to swim and breathe in/through most substances easily, including sand and snow, wheeples often like to keep most of their bodies submerged/buried with only their shell tops and cotton/grain stalks visible. Wheeples are herbivores, willing to eat almost any plant they can find, though most tend to quite enjoy the bulb of a Blob-eating Bulb plant, which they have no trouble digesting thanks to their acid-neutralizing spit/tears/blood/bodily fluids. Wheat Wheeples can be found in the Smiley Sands, and Rice Wheeples can be found in the Sourglow Swamp, typically close to the Mossy Mountain-edge of the Swamp. | ![]() Lumimish Info: This fish-like creature can use the ribbons that make up its flesh to form itself into just about any shape or other creature it can think of: a cube, a sphere, a heart, a prismermine, etc. However, no matter the form it's in, it keeps its sea slug-like limbs, its ears, its fins, its eyes and its mouth. These parts may be entirely rearranged if the creature wishes; for example, it may make hair out of its limbs. It has a skeleton inside it, as well as a glowing core that slowly fades between blue, purple, and silver. It doesn't seem to eat anything, but if it is for some reason kept from shifting, it will grow lethargic. The tendrils of this fish taste oceany and plant-like at once, and extremely savoury. They have a tendency to taste a bit fishy because they're from a hecking fish, but if you boil them for 5 minutes they lose their fishy aroma and soften slightly. |
![]() Erisfish Info: This fish has many blank, glowing crimson eyes, all of which seem to be staring at the viewer at all times. Spooky. It moves through water erratically, using its legs and tentacles to push itself forward, no two limbs ever moving quite in time with the others. They're slippery beasts, and once caught, they have the ability to speak, though they only use this power to taunt and tempt the person who caught them into eating them. They say nothing besides 'eat me, bitch' and 'consume me, coward' and different variations thereof. When eaten, each bite of an Erisfish is unique: sometimes their flesh is palatable and tastes of flowers or beef, and it tastes of something that should not or cannot be eaten as all, such as pure loneliness. When an Erisfish spots a Themisfish, it will attempt to lick it, consume it or do some truly obscene things to it. Sometimes, even lewd things. Especially if an Ichorfish is watching. It is this taunting of the Themisfish that seems to give them their energy... but if no Themisfish is around, a kissfish will do. | ![]() Themisfish Info: These fishies are white eels that swim gracefully through the water, all while keeping their hair perfectly, neatly in place with not a strand unaccounted for. Their long, white ponytail trails behind them as they slip through the water, swaying with the waves in a hypnotic dance. They have the ability to shock bloblings, but they only do so when touched or frightened. When eaten, the flesh of the Themisfish tastes like clean, lemony eel meat - a very meaty experience, with very little of the flakiness one might expect from a fish. It tastes like nothing else in the water, making its delectable corpse worth the electrical burns you may incur trying to catch one. When they see an Erisfish, they slide under the sand of the orb to hide, but their long ponytails often give them away. They don't seem to need anything to survive, living purely on grace alone. |
![]() Ichorfish Info: This fish is the most common fish available in the waters of the shadowy pool or sky orb of the Colorwave Coast and Dampwater Darks. They can be seen strutting their way around in the water, preferring to use their legs for movement rather than their fins. Their bright, rainbow tendrils are filled with many-coloured waterproof ink, and their colourful scales shed frequently; and can be used as sequins, as they have small holes on one end of each scale. Whenever an Ichorfish sees an Erishfish harassing a Themisfish, the Ichorfish will try to chase the Erisfish away, though this does not keep it from sighing dramatically around both types of fish when things are calm between them. Which is rare. Ichorfish seem to really like slorping up the tendrils of the lumimish, their slippery flesh ribbons making for a truly authentic pasta-like experience. | ![]() Kissfish Info: This type of fish is one of the few that can be seen frequently making trips to the surface of the sky orb. They'll bob their dramatically coloured lips out of the water and suck up sweet, precious air in big gulps, inflating their hot pink bodies. Then, with their lips closed, they swim back down and go about their day. Eris mentioned that these fish are a reference to an Old World video game he once played. These fish can be used to give air to pets and other air-breathers who may wish to spend some time submerged in the sky orb. Simply kiss their puckered, moist lips and squish their bod and the air will puff out! They seem to live off of the air they acquire, however, so as soon as they're completely spent and squished into a pancake, they'll start floating towards the surface again. When eaten, they taste... kind of waxy, almost like lipstick. They have flaky, fish-like flesh, but when chewed it breaks down into a paste that leaves mouths and teeth feeling gummy. |
![]() Dyeliner Info: The actual fish part of this fish is the white core; all of the rest of its bits can be yanked off. It has long, rainbowy fins that, when removed, can be dried out and made to function as cloth. The black tail can be separated from its body and within the flesh will be inky black eyeliner that stays pigmented all day and can sense when the wearer wants it to be gone, at which point it dissolves partially and is easily swiped away with water. The white part of its body is also hollow, and is filled with white eyeliner that works in the same way. This sea creatures enjoy eating just about anything colourful, and can sometimes be seen trying to chomp scales off of the many Ichorfish that strut around the sphere. When eaten, the white core of this fish has a mild fishy flavour with notes of... chalk. The black section tastes more like ink, but some bloblings find this flavour to be pleasantly punchy. Even when wet, the fins taste a bit cottony, and rip apart like wet paper towel. | ![]() Sandfish Info: This fish stays mostly at the floor section of the sky orb, scooting itself around like a dumbass with its mouth open. As it takes in more and more sand, it grows larger and larger... and once it's at twice its original size, it lays down to digest the contents of its stomach. About an hour later, it poops out a warm, moldable hunk of glass that can be blown and worked for about an hour before it cools completely. Bloblings have used this substance to make art, decor, windows, and more! While this fish prefers areas that are wet, it's also been seen populating the Smiley Sands. They seem to stay basically anywhere there's sand, but they do seem more lively in the Colorwave Coast and Dampwater Darks. The flesh of this creature tastes like gelatinous dirt. It's p gross, honestly. |
![]() The Golden Fish Info: This elusive fish is known only as the Golden Fish. Noblobby knows where it came from, as it was certainly not spawned during the spat between Ichor and Eris or during the fish event at large, but it certainly does exist... allegedly. Those who are lucky enough to catch this fish find them to be shiny, shimmery and special. Their fins and golden scales can be popped off of their body, but they turn to dust as soon as they detach. This glittery dust can be used in as a leavening agent in baked goods and, when mixed with ground wheeple wheat, some water and some oil, makes a delectable bread-like loaf. Bread made with the dust of this fish shines with a gorgeous golden sheen, like an egg wash but GOLD. The golden fish is a picky eater and will only eat yellow things, probably to preserve its glow. If eaten, it tastes slightly yeasty, like a combination between a sourdough and a fish. It's delicious, but an acquired taste to be sure. | ![]() Skitterspud Info: This creature's dex entry can be found in both the Flora section and the Fauna section, as it's a combination of both! This long, sharp creature is a vegetable/creature hybrid! It's about the size of an Old World husky and its body is long and is tipped with a dense vegetable that tastes lightly vegetal and crunchy, like a mixture between a radish and a cucumber. It also has several nodes in it, which are filled with glowy spuds, which is likely where this creature got its name. When boiled for a long period of time, the spuds lose their glow and yield easily when mushed. They travel in packs of 5 and tend to listen to the skitterspud with the largest vegetable, proving that bigger is in fact better. Additionally, they communicate both among themselves and to others in whistles; they seem to be unable to produce any other noises. Considering that they're also rather shy creatures, it's rare to hear them whistle and usually blobs can only hear their high-pitched noises when they sit still for long enough and become part of the scenery. These creatures make more of themselves by removing their vegetable and placing it in the ground, at which point a new skitterspud will grow... however, it takes a while for their vegetable tail to return to its former size, so the skitterspuds who do this often lose their position in the pack until it returns to its former glory. They eat the white grass in the Colourwave Coast and Dampwater Darks, so they don't tend to appear in any of the other biomes unless there's something wrong, such as one of their pack mates going missing. Last but not least, these noodly bois have glowy spiked collars around their tail and neck and, when removed, these spikes become moldable for about a quarter of a Number before solidifying into a slightly glowy, whitish blue glass-and-metal-cross with surprising staying power. |
![]() Pangoworm Info: These worm-like creatures are small, wiggly and invasive. They tend to travel in groups and swarm food-like substances, or anything they perceive as food... including each other. They actually can't seem to taste anything, so strong flavours don't bother them at all! Their upper half is coated in a hard coating of spices, and the spice scales can be removed, ground and used in cooking! These spices are: black pepper, ginger, cinnamon, chili powder, curry powder, and pumpkin spice! Their claws are made of salt, so those can also be popped off and turned into a powder, and they spin little hammocks out of sugar when they need to sleep. Their meaty core is extremely pungent, considering they're literally covered in spices all the time, but when boiled and drained several times, their meat becomes tender, juicy and much closer to edible. It tastes like a stringy, strongly spiced pulled pork-like meat at that point. To make more of themselves, two of them will spin a cocoon around each other and within several Numbers, baby pangoworms will emerge after consuming the contents of the cocoon... which is their parents, usually. About 10 of them hatch at a time and they grow to maturity very quickly, joining their brethren to invade and consume. Usually, they don't feel the need to mate unless they're stressed, though they can do so at an alarming rate when they are, causing their population to explode. If you don't want a pangoworm swarm on your paws, destroying the cocoons is probably your best bet. | ![]() Tabbish Info: These round, stripey fauna remind most who look at them of a mix between a feline and a fish. They have Old World tabby-like markings and come only in orange. They reside mostly in the orb in the Colourwave Coasts and Dampwater Darks, traveling in small schools of 8-15. They seem to value togetherness, but are also often seen fighting with certain members of their schools and getting rather catty. Their flesh tastes like Old World cherries, providing an odd combination of flaky flesh and a fruit-like flavour. Their diet consists of Golden Fish and ONLY Golden Fish. They are EXTRMELELY picky eaters and will spit out literally anything else, and they tend to be able to pick out imitations as well. The bready, fishy flavour of the Golden Fish is simply too distinctive. To make more of themselves, they frick. Yup. |
![]() Aurollia Info: Fauna Name: Aurollia. Fauna Description: A brilliant, graceful creature that floats through the air as if through water. The only sounds they can emit are almost extra-sensory hums. Though they cannot speak, all it takes is a glance into an Aurollia's eyes to see its wisdom. It sees you, it knows you, and it understands maybe more about the world than a blobling ever could. Sometimes they are seen as only glowing lights in the darkest caves, or as diaphanous smoke crossing the glimmer of a star in the distance. Aurollia are harmless, we're pretty sure, but can be intimidating in a sometimes inexplicable way. Biome(s): Anywhere! They may appear in any of the biomes on Terrea. Taste: Existential horror and crippling shame. Preferred Food: Starlight and thoughts (including its own). Mating Habits: It simply must decide to duplicate. Rarity: Extremely rare. | ![]() Glistengills Info: Fauna Name: Glistengills. Fauna Description: These adorable little tube-like fish-suckers only want one thing in their little lives, and that is to clean every dirty, unclean speck of ick off of whatever they can get their little suctioncup mouths on. Biome(s): Reinala's City in the Mossy Mountains, at first. Easily transportable, though. Taste: Glistengills taste overpoweringly like lemony soap when eaten, and eating them creates bubbles in the consumer's mouth. Preferred Food: They have a knack for somehow knowing what is and isn't supposed to be a part of something they are cleaning, and will excitedly feed on any dirt, dust, tarslime, blood, and/or any kind of uncleanliness or dirtiness on whatever object or in whatever liquid they are placed in/on. Mating Habits: Any two or more glistengills who want to procreate will gather in whatever nearby liquid they can find/are in, ideally with some dirt/mess nearby for the babies to clean, and then rub up against each other in a weird little wiggly dance. After a few moments, baby glistengills will wiggle out of the cuddlepile and swim/squirm to whatever nearby dirty thing they can clean before swimming out on their own. Size: Approx. the size of a (human) finger, but if kept in a large enough enclosure/tank and with enough uncleanliness to feed on, they can grow as big as base blobling or two. Rarity: Very common, as they procreate frequently and are easily transportable, but they start out only existing in Reinala's City. |
![]() Truffuls Info: Fauna Name: Truffuls (plural) Fauna Description: Small, armless and defenseless creatures that cover themselves with the drippings of the Milkshake Tree to try and hide their own delicious scent. They are prey creatures that consume mostly the bounty of the Milkshake Tree, but also partake in certain sweet plants or poff pods. They come in many different colors with a variety of antenna. They can often be seen toddling around the base of the Milkshake Tree, but are very skittish (for good reason) and can be difficult to catch. They are surprisingly speedy! Biome(s): Wherever Milshake Trees grow. Taste: They come in many different flavors; chocolate, vanilla, strawberry... Preferred Food: Milkshake Tree Bits, Lambfruit, sweet flora/poff pods. Mating Habits: A Trufful multiples when it feels safe, and will shake off a bit of its antennae and a few natural sprinkles into the creamy bits at the base of a Milkshake Tree, which will grow into tiny Truffuls in a few Numbers' time. Rarity: As common times a dozen as the Milkshake Tree. | ![]() Eyefly Info: Fauna Name: Eyefly. Fauna Description: Greenish-blue butterflies with large eyes decorating their wings. Biome(s): Primarily found in clusters in the Snekitti City, or anywhere grassy. Taste: Lime rock candy. Preferred Food: They drink nectar from flowers in their locale, they're not really picky. Mating Habits: Egg, with a bit of preliminary dancing. Rarity: Large clusters of 20+ are heckin rare, but a few (2-5) fluttering around together can be seen as a quite common occurrence. |
![]() Hotarhound Info: Fauna Name: Hotarhound Fauna Description: They are a very small, skittish creature and they tend to travel around in groups. Their packs can range in size from as small as a couple to as big as a hundred. Within these packs, they communicate with each other using body language and the movement of the wirey antennae on their body and wings. Despite looking canine in nature, they don’t vocalize at all. Their body is chitinous and their translucent wings let them fly and dance around with ease. Also, their tail light will light up and flash when they are near any other creature. The closer they are to that creature, the quicker the light will flash on and off. Though it is uncommon, if they are close to a particular being for long enough they will stop flashing for that creature. The color that their light flashes is determined by the type of creature they are near: White for another of their kind, Yellow for any other type of fauna, Blue for a blob, and Red for a God. Biome(s): They can be found in any biome which has water, so all of them (so far) except the Tar Pits and the Smiley Sands. Taste: They taste like those lollipops that have bugs inside. Quite the crunch! Preferred Food: All they need to stay healthy is starlight, but they are willing to eat any and all types of flora. A large grouping of them could become quite the nuisance if they were to take a liking to a certain type of plant. Mating Habits: They leave tiny glowing eggs on the surface of water, which will hatch into more of them. Rarity: Finding one can be rare, but once you find one there are likely more nearby. | ![]() Diebin Info: Fauna Name: Diebin. Fauna Description: These little guys live to steal Terrean currency. While they adore all shiny objects, nothing holds their fancy like ferroflips do. In whatever way possible, they will quietly wander into a blobling’s home and rummage through their things until they come across their stash. Then, once they do find some, they will snatch up as many as they can hold in their appendages and try to scurry off with them. To make it even easier for them to successfully complete their heists, they are completely invisible! If a blob isn’t listening for the pattering of their feet they could manage to sneak right under them unseen! Of course, there is one way for them to be revealed, and it is by them being shone on by the black light ferroflips give off. So as soon as one of them picks up a coin, they will be immediately visible due to the very thing they are trying to steal away. Though, despite them being caught they will refuse to let go of any of their stolen items and will still try to get away with them. The only way to scare them off for good is by booping them right on the nose! This spooks them so bad that they drop everything and never return to that blob’s home. Biome(s): Anywhere that blobs live. Taste: They taste like purple star apples! Preferred Food: They feed of a blobling’s greed for money. Mating Habits: They decorate nests with a large collection of ferroflips and the light from them all will collect together to create one. Rarity: They are uncommon, but not rare. |
![]() Hugathos Info: Fauna Name: Hugathos (Hue-gath-os) Fauna Description: Giant, super fluffy-furred, mute yeti dudes who live in the mountains and help bloblings stay safe during their travels and adventures; very friendly, very soft, great for cuddles and warmth, and large enough to carry most/many bloblings around with ease. They are calm, gentle and helpful pacifists who will silently assist and obey any kind/good/pure requests or commands, and will not resist if attacked (only fleeing if in actual danger), but their thick coats of fur and flesh make them very resilient and tough, while also making living in any other biome tough for them. Their thick fur naturally sheds sometimes, and can be easily harvested without causing any pain for the Hugathos, perfect for making wonderfully warm, comfy blankets and such when woven together, and Mint Moss sometimes grows on their longer furtufts, giving them and their fur a soft snowy and minty scent. Biome(s): The Mossy Mountains. Taste: Hugathos fur tastes like the Mint Moss that often grows on it, and if a blobling/creature managed to get some Hugathos flesh, it would taste much like tough lamb meat with too much mint jelly. Preferred Food: Mint Moss and Water/Tea normally, but most of them especially enjoy Cuteacup Teas, even though getting enough gathered to actually be enough for a Hugathos to drink is incredibly difficult. Mating Habits: Two in-love Hugathos will pair off and attempt to hold hands for over 3 whole Numbers. If they succeed in holding hands for the entire duration of the 'mating' a fluffy egg containing a baby Hugathos will appear inbetween their palms, quickly grow to about 10ft in size, and after another 3 numbers, it can hatch to reveal the new young Hugathos. Parent Hugathos stick around to cuddle their eggbaby to keep it warm and incubate it, and usually stay with their young until they have grown to be about adult-sized before they go their own ways. Size: BIG. Adults ranging from 30-70ft usually but can get a bit bigger. Rarity: Uncommon(ish), with usually about 69-83 Hugathos existing in the Mossy Mountains at a time. | ![]() Rollee Info: Fauna Name: Rollee Fauna Description: Small and Docile, Rollees are a isopod like critter. Rollees are dark in color and camouflage well into their meal of choice. they make their home in the roots of bleeding heart trees and will eat the bark off the roots to sustain themselves. Aditionally, Rollees have the ability to curl up into a ball and like to sleep in this position. Biome(s): Smiley Sands and Sourglow Swamps. Basically wherever Bleeding Heart trees are found. Taste: When young, they taste like honey. as they mature they become more bitter and medicinal tasting. Preferred Food: The bark of Bleeding Heart trees. Mating Habits: Rollees are genderless and all of them can lay eggs. Rollees will sit on the eggs until the Rollee perishes. once this happens they expel a mucus which causes the eggs to hatch. they also stop eating during this time. this process takes 5-7 numbers. Rarity: Very common, in about 60% of bleeding heart trees. |
