« Etesi »
How exactly does it feel to just....suddenly exist?Etesi, although unable to explain it, felt scared. Oh, so very, very scared.
The fetid, unexplainable smell that clung in the air and his mouth. The dark red sky that had no end. The soaked, black earth that stuck to his body. The vast, unending pits of tar that bubbled and lapped at the edges of their pits, beckoning the curious new Blobling to come and fall into it's inky pool. All of it was brand-new, confusing and incredibly terrifying to the grey blob, who in that moment only knew of his existence, his name and how to move his mouth to make sounds that were supposed to mean things, for whatever purpose that served.
But after a moment of frantically glancing around at the domain that circled him, he sank without struggle into an eerie calm. The black and sanguine landscape became more familiar with each passing moment, feeling more and more...welcoming, embracing. Homely. The miry sand glued to his underside was..still wet, icky sand, but it felt less annoying than it had before. The sting in his mouth and eyes subsided into a bearable tang, and the tar's thrall lifted slightly from the edges of his mind.
For Etesi, this was all that existed, could exist, and would possibly ever exist, and he was happy with that. He felt, in some strange way, in this abandoned world of tar, that he was meant to be here. As he stared into the dark pond before him, reflecting on everything he had just discovered, a though came.
There had to be more. More to see. More to smell. But what, and how would he reach it?
The Blobling turned away from the tar and made a glance at the horizon. Without a second though, he thrust his body forward, and then immediately regretted his choice as he fell face-first into the sand.
