Rhys swung the two metal buckets as he walk. The buckets were full of water wen he had left the ocean but now the water barely covered the fish that were inside. Rhys didn't care. His master had told him to fetch some fish. He had not said they had to be alive when he got back to the castle.
He was complicating whether or not to swing the buckets around again. Last time he only lost a little bit of the water and one fish. And he was so bored! Suddenly the sand next to him moved. Rhys grew serious. In all his time in the sands he had only seen sand move once and that was when one of those Prismermine creatures had popped out of the grounds. And actually succeeded in scaring Rhys so bad he had screamed and fell on his butt. It was not something he wanted to repeat. So he set the pails down and got ready to catch the little fiend.
He was slightly disappointed that instead of a furry creature, two eyes blinked up at him through the sand.
"Huh, It's a blob. Wonder what the rest of it looks like." Rhys thought.
The pile of sand moved closer and started to speak. "Excuse me. I am bored. Can you take me with you?"
"Take it with him?" He looked down at the blob and realized that this blob was entirely made up of sand. Rhys felt pity for the small blob. Unlike Rhys who had mastered at staying in a more solid form from the time he was a newly formed droplet. This blob did not seem to have learned how to become more solid.
Rhys looked down into the sad innocent eyes of Sand. He cold take him but he did not think it would do for Sand to meet his master. He didn't want to think what Matlock would do to an innocent blob as this one was.
"Sure. I can take you." Rhys answered. "Just a moment."
He took one of the pails and dumped the fish and water into the other one, leaving him with an empty one. He thought about just scooping Sand up bt he wasn't sure if Sand would actually be solid enough to hold. So he placed the pail down and waited for sand to slowly move into the pail.
There was more to Sand then he had thought as Sand kept filling the pail. Finally Sand was all the way in. The top of him domed over the pail and his two eyes peered over the side of the bucket in excitement.
Rhys picked up both pails and continued his trek across the red sands, chatting away with Sand. It was nice to travel with someone. He would mak a slight detore to the Onyx City and drop Sand off there. And hopefully his master would never know.
