Friends, Old and New (Angort/Open)

He first noticed the tune a while back, coming from in front of him. Unlike the other blobs, some of which listened as though it was a faint memory of theirs, he didn't feel anything. No, this was not a familiar song. It...it was nice, though. He looked around on his stilt-like legs for the one that was singing, and instead, tripped over him.

Luckily enough for Angort, he tripped to one side. His arm propped him up while he quickly got back up. Brushing himself off (why did he do that, he wondered? There was barely any dust in Onyxia.) he looked around for the one that had bumped into him, and then finally looked downwards.

Crouching down, he went to the level of the smaller blobling (it wasn't that much of a difference, although noticeable enough). "Who would you be?"

Angort was miffed. Shocked. Annoyed, at most. Well, in retrospect, he hadn't apologized, had he? Best to do that. But then it began to sing to another tune in it's head. But..

"Shit don' even rhyme."

What a funny little blobling! The beat was kind of fire though, but it was gnawing at him. Not the nicest of sorts, it seemed. He casually looked around as it tried to get to his knees, waving to any other bloblings who looked the way of this small commotion. Onyxia was a city, after all, and bloblings had their own lives to go about. Finally, he grew tired of the constant jumping.

"Alright, that's more than enough. Sorry...I don't know your name. I haven't seen you around before, actually."

What a peculiar blobling!

It looked like it was...testing out if it still worked or not? Weird. Angort hadn't hurt it that much, he thought. Not at all, actually. The blob that was yet to be named had started the conflict...no, he had. He hadn't said sorry before. Perhaps if he was looking where he was going - no, that was pretty difficult considering he was literally a blob attached to four limbs. But as it smiled, Angort's annoyance and confusion swept away, like a river washing away...things. What was a good similie for that? The next few words triggered an instinct in him he had not known existed.

"You're baby"

Shaking his head, he looked down at the blob now on it's side.

"So...your name is Baby? Nice name. I'm Angort. Pleased to meet you!"

He stuck out a hand as if to shake.

Angort looked at Facebaby, or "Baby", as he had come to know the blob. It was about to bite him? No, he was friendly, Baby would never hurt anyone! Unless they tripped over him, but that was a thing of the past. And just as he thought of it, Facebaby retracted the mouth it had offered, and instead used it's tail. As it waggled, Angort giggled a bit along with Facebaby. A good new friend, he thought. Reminded him of some other animal...one that definitely didn't exist, on Terrea, at least. But it was great to meet a new friend, and his body instinctively expressed that by doing a little dance on his stilt-legs.

"So, 'Baby', when'd you come to Terrea?"

He was asking quite a lot of questions this time. Perhaps it would be best if he answered first. So, he asked yet another question.

"Want me to go first?"

"Same as it ever was..."

The first two lines didn't make sense, but the second two, he understood. Let the days go by, yes. That was something he lived for. Just letting the days go by...but he did ask himself. He asked himself how he got here on the first day. Where this place was, who he was. None of it made sense. Did he spring from the sand? Perhaps the air had condensed to create him? But he suspected the ones that walked above, like Ichor and Themis, and Fourvoices, were in some way responsible for the creation of most beings here.

"Nice song. What was the word...bard. Yeah, you should become a bard or something! You have tunes, that's for sure. Now...it all started in the sands."

And so, Angort found a bench (you know those places at schools that are like tables, except for a tree or something? This one had a papyrill on it), motioned Facebaby to come over, and began to relate his admittedly short life story. Of course, he skipped over the parts that were uninteresting. Who wants to hear about those, amirite? But he talked of his adventures to the city, and then he stopped suddenly at the haunted house part.

"Did you go there? It was a pretty weird place. There were orange blob things...and skeletons? No, there were no skeletons."

Why had the word just popped into his head? How did he even know what a skeleton was? It was vague, but it was inside weird figures that roughly looked like Ichor or Themis.

"Sorry about that. Word just flew into my head. Were you there, though?"

A frown.

His entire life story, short as it was (5 minutes), and a frown was all he got. Offended wouldn't be the right word, more...disappointed. What the hell was a frown supposed to mean?

Sure, Facebaby wasn't the most eloquent, and Angort hadn't really been keeping his part of the story going (a life story? really?) but in his defense, he was new to the whole "talking" thing. He was, or had been, a quiet blob for most of his life. You know he was desperate if he walked out into the streets literally "friend-searching".

And so the frown he held right back at Facebaby was like a calm mask for a swirling sea underneath. Was he so uninteresting that this blob couldn't find anything to talk about to him? Just a frown? It was a yes or no- ohh. That, that may have been the problem. A yes or no. How do you keep a conversation flowing with a yes or no question?

But, he didn't want this to end so quickly. So, he spoke again.

"Do you...do you know what a 'knife' is?"

Another yes or no. If he could facepalm (technically he could, but he was holding a very intense frown), he would have. So, to rectify:

"It's a sharp little thing, quite similar to my claws, except grey. Shiny, I think. Sharp things make me bleed...and I don't like it. Do you know what we, what I, had to do with that knife, 'Baby'? Scary things happened in that haunted house."

That was unsettling. Extremely so. He was going to scare away another prospective friend. Perhaps it would be best if he just retired into the mountains. But, no. He had to try!

"...that must have been some boring shit you just heard, huh?"
