It had been a couple of Numbers since Ettie had come across the Meowler Pens and helped Lerinzia with cleaning up the place - meeting and mingling with the occasional blobling and meowler alike as she did. Since then, it was safe to say that the little werewolf blobling and her pack had moved on from the Pens - but they had yet to leave the region proper. Instead, the group had taken to lingering among the foothills of the mountainous range, wandering about and sheltering in the warmer caves whenever they decided it was time to rest.
Perhaps, were it any other place, Ettie would've moved on by now - seeking new excitement and new sights. But given the wide range of climes that the caves could hold, as well as the various residents in some of these caves, there was plenty of things to hold the canid's attention as they wandered along. It also helped that - though it could be cold and snowy outside - there was still plenty you could find to eat, such as Shineshrooms, if you knew where to look.
Thus, it was with a full belly and an eager smile when the pack once more set off - starting down the foothills, in search of their next encounter. "Hmm... Where go?" Ettie wondered out loud to the Coalkanines that trailed after her, glancing about. There were so many directions they could go - they could go deeper into the mountains, or move away, or just continue following along the fringes like they'd been doing for the past while... Even the pack seemed unsure at the options presented!
Ruffian, on one hand, was eyeballing the mountains - looking interested in trying to scale one of them. Then there was Duchess, who was particularly content to just continue exploring the caves on the lower parts. But Princess, meanwhile, would give a big yawn as she peered off into the distance - the cold was making her sleepier than usual, and she was looking forward to warming back up already. So many decisions, and it looked like Ettie was going to have to be the tiebreaker in all of this.
But, thankfully, it didn't take long for something to catch her attention. Namely, tracks in the shallow snow that dusted the area - fresh tracks, at that! At least two sets, if Ettie had to guess as she sniffed the air - but one of those sets looked as though it came from something particularly large... "Oooh... Exciting!" She chirped to herself - peering off towards where the tracks led. "This way, this way!"
The coalkanines perked up at their pack leader's call - and with an excited bark of agreement from Duchess, they were off! Trotting along, the group followed the tracks, eager to see where it would take them.
