"Hey, kiddos!"
Vin snapped upright in surprise, spilling a dribble of purple down their chin and neck. Again! Their head swiveled to find the direction of their father's boisterous entrance, zeroing in on the sound of Kip laughing at the sight of Vin's reaction. The pup smiled, clearly happy to see him, but sent a short glance of pure confusion over to their brother.

He's so bright, and so loud. How does he keep sneaking up on us?

Kiv had been intermittently dozing at his post. Cozy as the post was, curled up next to Vin, he could hardly be blamed when his eyes would drift shut against his will. Of course, Kip solved that. As Vin jolted up Kiv fell down with a surprised squeak comparable to one of Pip's. Eyes wide and watery, his paws spasmed like he might have jumped had they been under him.
Then he realized what had happened in it's entirety with the sound of Kip's familiar laughter. "Hi Kip." The pup said in his usual quiet way as he righted himself and was wondering much the same thing just before Vin's messaged popped in.

I dunno x.x Maybe training? He's kinda awesome with that so that's probably it?
Think we should we maybe train to be better at spotting him?
...or least know how he does it?
His eyes continued to hold the watery sheen as he blinked at Kip but a slight tail wag and a gentle smile made it clear that the pup wasn't too distressed by the situation. Though his head tilted a bit to side as he noticed the pack, "On a fools thing?" He perked up a little bit wondering if Kip needed their help with something.

Definitely worth an ask sometime. I bet we could spook Val with it, could be fun!
"Wha? Oh, nah, this one's personal. Went on my own mission to get this one." Kip said warmly towards the more cosmic looking of his two bloodspawn. Vin focused their attention towards their father, both of them trying not to focus on Kiv for a moment and perhaps giving the pup a moment to clear their eyes. Vin did wish that Kip was a bit less, well, Kip and spooking Kiv now and then, but at least it was all in good fun.
Vin narrowed their eyes suspiciously, pointing towards a bit of black on Kip's normally pristine red scarf. "What sort of trouble happened on this mission?"
"Not Important." Kip replied, wiping away the remnants of the smuck tar brought to his attention. "What is important, is what's in the pack." After that, Kip lowered himself a little in a slight play-bow pose, bringing his head down to the level of the pups. "It's yours! Somethin' ya both have been wantin' for a while now!"

Kiv shot Vin an amused look, but further messaged replies were stopped at Kip's words. The pup's eyes widened again though this time with a sort of wonder. It was for them? Kiv's headwings folded upward a little bit, the wispy cosmic undersides of the wings trailing slightly in the wake of the motion as he tilted his head. Kip had something for them? Something that they had wanted? For a while? He quickly looked at Vin, both curious and excited to see if they knew what the larger pup was talking about before his attention returned to Kip.
Eyeing the pack intently it seemed like Kiv was trying to see through it to it's contents. He quickly gave up however and just asked plainly, voice both hesitant and excited, "What is it?"

Vin returned Kiv's look of curiosity and excitement, their mind reaching deeply for any possibilities. What could the two pups possibly have wanted lately?
"Well, what do you think it is?" Kip coyly asked his wispy bloodspawn, adjusting the pack a little for emphasis. He watched Kiv's face scrunch with thought, before catching a little smile from Vin. "Well you're going to give it to us anyway, why not just let us look?" Vin tried reasoning, their amusement plain to the other gathered pups. Kip's good mood was rather infectious to them, and the pup had been concocting a plan that they were sure their father would appreciate.
"What, no guesses?" Kip started to say, before cutting off in a startled cry as Vin charged forward into him. Tackling the green pup around his waist and tangling their limbs in his scarf, Vin took them both to the ground, with Kip cackling all the while. "Kiv, look in the pack!" They called out, laughing as Kip flipped them over onto the ground in a tangle of fur and feathers.

Taken slightly off guard Kiv hesitated briefly as Vin rushed Kip. But of course he had to back Vin up! He made a small bounce forward trying to figure out where he could help. He shifted left and right looking for a good opening before the other pup's call reached him. With a determined nod Kiv shifted direction bounding in a way that seemed slightly precarious (if adorable) as he tryed to dart around the two to get at the pack. "I got- oh!"
Of course, just as he made it the inevitable happened. Kip flipped over taking the pack with him out of Kiv's reach. With a giggle Kiv was unperturbed and bounded around the two again trying to get a better angle on the bag as the other two wrestled with each other. The movement kept their prize out of Kiv's ideal range so after running a lap around the two Kiv figured his only chance was to go for it.
Hunched down Kiv's rump was raised and wiggling a little from the force of his long tail as it wagged like a long flowing ribbon behind him. Cosmic fluff trailed and dissipated like smoke at the end. The pose, for any casual observer, was a tad more feline than expected and contrasted with his canine form. The pup himself though hadn't noticed, focused as he was. Waiting for it... the pup lunged when he thought his odds were good.

Down on the ground, the pups fought in a flurry of limbs and wings, turning heads with their hearty and unrestrained laughter. Vin's front paws were pinned to his chest in a tangle of Kip's paws and scarf, and so flinched and twitched their face as they poked at their bloodfather's face with both headwings.
"Ahh! C'mon, no fair, I ain't got those!" Kip's voice fought through his chuckling, the pup thoroughly enjoying this little fit of roughhousing with his bloodspawn. It was the perfect cover for Kiv to lunge forward, snatching the bag or at least getting it open to look inside. The main flap of the pack flies open, and a metallic scraping sound can be heard as a few pages slide out.
Still pinned to the ground, Vin's eyes go wide at the sight. The bag was jam-packed with as much Ferrowood as it could possibly hold!

"Gotcha!" Kiv called from his position splayed over Kip's back and almost half in the bag himself. As soon as he found the metal sheets that filled the bag he felt a little silly for not guessing as much. The two pups had only managed to collect some meager scraps and he doubted it was a useful amount for whatever Libby and Greenie needed it for.
But THIS! This was much more and exactly what they needed! Kiv's long tail whipped back and forth as he readjusted on Kip's back to give the bigger pup a hug. Shoving his face into the scarf he murmured a happy, if slightly sheepish, "Thank you~"

From the bottom of the pile of puppers sprawled on the ground, Vin squirmed and wriggled enough to get their front legs free. "Oh Kip, you didn't have to do that for us! Thank you so much~" Throwing their paws around Kip's neck, the three of them enjoyed a moment of calm snuggles, before Kip easily stood up with Kiv on his back and Vin around his neck.
"A'ight, kiddos! Lets go, 'n one of ya grab the bag before we get inside!" And with that, Kip started to trot towards the library, the pups giggling as they were dragged behind.
