If they were being honest, Hydrus regretted coming to the mountains. They were cold, and mostly uphill, and cold, and the only saving grace were the many caves that protected errant Bloblings from the biting cold.
At least the Canimu seemed to be enjoying it - they were splashing about in a shallow pool near the back of the cave. Hydrus would have joined them, but whatever game they were playing seemed predicated on having limbs to splash the other player. And besides, being wet just made being cold worse.
Suddenly, the playing stopped. Both of the finned creatures stood stock still, noses sniffing rapidly. The larger, blue Canimu gave a single bark to announce the group’s presence. Hydrus followed it up with a “Hello?”, just in case whoever - or whatever - was out there didn’t speak in barks.
