This thing.
Please note that you will need to be on the desktop version of the site to be able to see it. Honestly, please don't ever use the mobile version unless you need to. x-x All sorts of functionality is lost.
Anyway, Upgrade Vouchers are ticket-looking things that you can purchase with the Coins you earn from posting or drawing lovely Terrea-related art. They can change basically everything about your blobling: you can add another pair of eyes to it, change its body shape, add a mane or nose, add wings, and more. If there's something you want to change, there's a Voucher for it. If there isn't one... well, talk to me about it. We can probably work something out. =p
A single Voucher (with only a few notable exceptions) cannot change more than 25 percent of your blobling's lineart.
Using Your Upgrade Vouchers:
Upgrade Vouchers can be used during the current Evolution Phase. Like with Bleeding Season, there's a form you need to fill out and submit in the Evolution Phase thread. The form just allows you to specify which Voucher's you like to use. Because of the open-ended nature of Vouchers, you will be asked to provide either a reference or a detailed description of what you want from the new part you're adding, as well as a HEX code or description of the colour you want it to be. Parts that are added will all be a single colour, and markings will need to be added separately with Marking Vouchers.
You may use 10 Vouchers per Evolution Phase.
Voucher Specifics:
Before you buy a Voucher, make sure to take a look at its description, because there are some nuances to a few of them. For example, Leg Vouchers will add legs with feet already attached, assuming the legs don't take up over 25 percent of your blobling's lineart.
Speaking loosely, a single Voucher can't change more than 25 percent of a blobling. Hairstyles like flopped over bangs will require only a single Hair Voucher, whereas a full head of hair may require two or three. It's suggested that you either add the hair in pieces, such as bangs and then the front and then the back (therefore using 3 Vouchers), or wait to use all of your Vouchers at once.
Foot Vouchers will add just feet to your blobling. It will be able to waddle, but just having feet won't be quite as effective as if they were attached to, say... legs. I can't deny the aesthetics of just having cute little feeties, though, so the option is there. You may also place your blobling's feet wherever you wish, meaning that you can have feet bursting from its eye sockets if you really wanna do that.
Size Change Vouchers can change your blobling's overall size. A blobling cannot be smaller than a flea, and it cannot be larger than a blue whale. It takes 10 Size Change Vouchers to achieve either extreme, so assume that 1/10th of a blobling's possible size is added or subtracted per Size Change Voucher applied. In the case of making your blobling larger, since a blue whale is about 80 feet long, you may use a single Size Change Voucher to make your blobling 8 feet taller, which is 1/10th of 80 feet.
Shape Change Vouchers are slightly nebulous in that they allow you to stretch out your blobling in all sorts of ways. You can squish it in the middle to shape it into a peanut, or flatten it, or squish it up into a point; all sorts of things can be done, basically. Shape Change Vouchers are intended to help you alter the base of a blobling before adding other parts to it.
The main thing to remember is that a blobling can't be changed more than 25 percent with a single Voucher. If you're ever confused about how many Vouchers of a certain type a change will take, just ask me and I shall give you a ruling. ^__^ This is less of a hard and fast rule and more of an attempt to keep my workload from getting too heavy all at once. If your blobling has been through an Evolution Phase before, you will use the new lines to determine what 25 percent of the blobling is.
To summarize, a Size Change Voucher can be used to:
- Change a blobling's size category to make it larger or smaller than other bloblings. Depending on the application, this may or may not change the line art at all. (If you wish to swell your blobling up but keep its eyes the same size, your blobling's face will appear much smaller. If you wish to size up a creature to be larger for role play purposes, its line art will not be altered.)
A Shape Change Voucher can be used to:
- Flatten, stretch, twist, etc, your base blobling into all sorts of fun shapes in order to prepare it for the parts that will be added to it with other Vouchers.
If your blobling has two Legs and wishes for 4 Legs, do not use a Size Change or Shape Change Voucher to add them. You must use more Leg Vouchers. This goes for most other parts as well.
Eye Vouchers are used to change your blobling's default eyes to another eye type. An Extra Eyes Voucher must be used to add any additional eyes to your blobling over the original 2, and if you haven't used an Eye Voucher prior to change the main eyes, the extra eyes that are added will be more default eyes unless otherwise specified.
Adding a Head Voucher will now automatically add a neck as well.
Adding a Mouth Voucher will also add teeth.
Other Vouchers are special Vouchers that apply visual changes to your blobling that aren't covered by the other Vouchers. You may add glowing orbs that always follow your blobling around, you may make your blobling see-through, you may make your blobling appear shadow-like, etc. Other Vouchers cannot, however, make your blobling able to pass through objects or anything else gameplay-related - this is the job of a Personal Power, something that will be available to your blobling a little later when magic is released into the world. :3 Other Vouchers may change as much of your blobling's lineart as you want, as long as they don't turn it into an entirely different creature. It must retain its shape and stay true to its evolutionary path thus far.
Fur Vouchers will add a layer of fur to your blobling's body. This will be represented by occasional tufts of fur on your blobling. Fur Vouchers, Scale Vouchers and Feather Vouchers are some of the only Vouchers that can change 100 percent of your blobling's lineart at once, and so we often only add a couple simple tufts here and there to show the change. Each new texture of fur will require a new Fur Voucher (same with Feather and Scale). For example, if you have a dog-like blobling with short fur and you wish to add a thick tuft of medium-length fur to its chest, you must use another Fur Voucher for the new length of fur.
Blobling Rules:
There are very few rules when it comes to creating a blobling, as I wish to not inhibit people's creativity. However, there are a couple that I've come up with.
1.) Don't make your blobling into a dick. Don't make your blobling look like an eggplant. Don't do it. This is your role play character, the creature you'll be writing as, so try to put some thought into it. x-x Don't do that to the little guy. He never even had a chance.
2.) Please don't make your blobling into an existing copyrighted creature, such as a Pokemon or Digimon, etc. I don't mind if what you make looks a bit similar to something that already exists, because creativity is dead, but I want people to try to make something that's at least a little bit their own.
