Bloblings from all over Terrea have been hiding out outside of the Bunko Barn, waiting for the next time Rourick says they're open for business. Some of them have set up elaborate huts, so eager for the barn's next event that they've just decided to live there. Oh dear!
01/7/22 Hey there!
It's July now!
We've updated the Writing Prompts and Art Prompts for this month, so go take a look! We can't wait to see what you come up with!
This month is an Evolution Phase, and the thread will be being posted on the 5th! Stay tuned.
The mods and I did some talking and we have decided that it's time for us to focus on the overall site and its functionality first and foremost, rather than running any other story events at this moment. This means that for several months, we'll be putting our energy into updates like a Voucher Guide and a Newbie Landing Page that will benefit the whole site, but may not be as fun in the short-term. We may sprinkle in one or two story updates here and there, pending on some further decision making behind the scenes.
This does not mean that Prompts or Mini Missions will stop, but it *does* mean that I (Ichor) will be unavailable for anything that requires my art for the foreseeable future/as of this post. This means that people who wish for Makers, Insta-Bleeds and Insta-Evos and more should go ask one of the other mods very nicely if they're willing to art those. Players who do so should pay 50 percent of the item's price to the artist and 50 percent to the Terrea PayPal.
Our Discord server is invite only. Please DM Ichor or Saerfall after you've submitted your blobling claim form, and we'll send you an invite link. We spend most of our time on our Discord, so if it seems quiet here, we're probably all sequestered away in our server.
Soma's instructions are but simple guidelines. Eris wants Yume to hide. Here's some ways how.
Make sure the chaos bloblings calm down for a bit. No, that doesn't mean that they can do nothing, but... perhaps infiltrate.
(Infiltrate Reinala's city, that is. Every time he thinks of that thing, an intense surge of jealousy and h a t e consumes him. But outwardly, he doesn't seem to have anything show on his face. It's actually really strange. It's not like he's practiced a poker face before. Maybe he just doesn't run hot when he's angry.)
But that brings him to another idea. Ichor's the one to please this time, right? That's a simple solution then. Instead of just hiding, Ichor already knows they're there. And Reinala's NOT doing a good job of endearing herself to Ichor, just not causing problems.
So the answer to that's simple.
Reinala can have their shiny city and destroy all they want. They're gonna be the ones that are HELPFUL to Ichor.
That would please Ichor. That would make Ichor definitely less likely to smite them off the face of the earth.
Unlike whatever noooonsense Reinala's doing. Look at the new land! It's already been defaced!!
Soma's not salty at all. Nope.
Okay, he's very salty. He still doesn't know where he'd move to... the pools are just too good to leave in the climate caves.
It's probably that Ichor's too tired to help out with Reinala. To solve that, he'd have to ask Yggdra what Ichor wanted. Yggdra wanted what Eris had said, but honestly, that was perfectly justifiable.
Saying less wouldn't help, so he said more to lay their worries at rest. "Yume did stuff that didn't help Eris. He wants to patch up relations with Ichor. "
The latter certainly wasn't included in the original mission, but it got the idea through.
Yggdra still looked a bit suspicious anyway, but they bit their lip and spouted out that Ichor wanted more things planted, AND gave them seeds. Same as the previous mission? Did nobody help Ichor?
Soma's actually worried about that. The last time that happened...
... He doesn't remember. Anyway, that gives off a bad feeling. He's sure abusing the embodiment of life isn't a good thing. And he admires Ichor. Not like Reinala, who's crashed his perfectly good living space and invaded his home. Not yet, but he's beyond sure they will.
But he has his answer. He tells Yume that Ichor wants seeds to be planted, and has a stash. And of course, bleedings would work as well.
Actually, that was a pretty good idea all around. Expand chaos followers by bleeding. Help themselves. Help Ichor. Capital idea.
Soma's not gonna do that, of course. He's got a lot of trouble already with Yggdra on his heels. They seem distracted, at the very least. In fact, they've come up to talk to him.
"Isn't Ichor being bullied like this? Yume has so many followers, Reinala too, but nobody's appreciating Ichor even although she's the one who does everything!"
Soma can tell that they've already made up their mind to help Ichor. He's perfectly fine with that. "Hey, it's the nature of h-- bloblings to forget. I think what happened before had them do other things too, but if anything bloblings do worse it's probably that they forget even more. Sucks when they forget the routine is what keeps them alive, right?"
Yggdra has their lips set in a firm, thin line. "So, are you going to help me?"
He has to evade the fastball bounce that happens, but he's actually sure he will. Which is why he tells Yggdra about the Carnivians killing each other, the gems, the bleedings, and where to best plant seeds--
Hm, that's an idea.
"We should save some of the seeds. I'm pretty sure the Eris bloblings or Themis ones will want to mess around with them. That way in the future we could make a garden or something..."
Because Order's self-centered, because they are, and because they're finding more bloblings to selfishly subsume away from Ichor, because of course they are, not that the city's not going to bribe them anyway because they're not like Eris who have a harder time luring blobs--
They'll probably want to recruit from bloblings in the valley, those seemingly being 'Good' and planting herbs. The Eris bloblings could sneak in there. And as an aside, so could the Ichor bloblings. He nods, glancing at Yggdra.
(If being helpful and 'good-hearted' isn't enough to put them in the city, then they're all just tyrants that Ichor would have to get rid of in the future, right?)
Strangely, Soma seems to relax once he thinks of a city made for everyone, just not the Order bloblings. Seems like it was the exclusivity that really made him grind his teeth.
But aside from that, he'd also thought of other ideas. Aside from entry to Reinala's city definitely being a must, the Carnivians had brought up other ideas. Like for example, their dens! They could hollow out or kick out some Carnivians and make homes for Chaos bloblings, where they'd be hidden.
Or even better, the tar pits, which were made specially for them. The bloblings could roll over the tar easily, so...
Something coated with tar? Perhaps a lot of glow grape vines and trees woven together to make a treehouse, covered with tar? And then they could grow lots of stuff on the outside mesh of branches, so that if Reinala dared to attack their tarry heaven it'd probably offend Ichor as well.
Soma thinks about perhaps another idea which he'd keep to himself... Perhaps a home with an entrance UNDER the tar pits? that way, you'd have to sink into a pit to even get in, and that's something no other blobling would do. That would probably be a really safe way to store things!
Speaking of which, since Ichor couldn't get rid of the Tar pits, wouldn't Ichor be unable to get rid of the city? In that case, it'd probably make her happy if it could be sabotaged somehow...
Speaking of outrage, he could probably do that easy once Reinala shot herself in the foot with the city. If they insist on only having 'good' bloblings in there, then there'd be a lot of bloblings that wish trouble on them on the outside. Alone, it wouldn't be a problem, but of course, that'd be a boon to Eris.
So frankly, on that end, all Soma would have to do is wait for them to announce that. But they might get sneaky, and only block off bloblings that tried to enter one-by-one so they could divide on conquer. Simple, then. Soma could gather a large amount of bloblings which had their identity as anarchists blown already, and then bring them to the city walls to get rejected all at once. At least half should carry stuff that seems dangerous, but the other half should arrive just slightly later and get rejected all the same, and they should look normal or even neutral.
Maybe Soma could scatter fliers around the place for the opening of the city as well. That would be pretty amazing, if a whole bunch of bloblings showed up and saw themselves getting rejected. The other bloblings would probably fly into a rage and assume they'd get rejected too, except for a select few, who'd be allowed in...
Anger. Rage. Jealousy. Envy. They'd feel all of those. And then Eris could welcome them with open arms. They shouldn't say that they'd want to destroy the city Reinala had built until they were back at a meeting place, and a lot of those blobs would probably join on the spot out of spite.
If anything untowards happened, they could just announce their rejection of Reinala on the spot, however.
Actually, that was perfect. Soma should also just hide and get stuff ready. Ichor didn't want stuff targeted, but Themis was fair game, right? Soma starts thinking up ways to mess the city up.
The bad things about walled cities is that they have to be fortified, and if they do, then starving them out was the best way to siege most of the time.
If they could push order to the extent of not being able to provide for themselves in any way, all the bloblings within would convert mostly to disorder. How heartbreaking would it be to see their allies turn on each other like starving wolves?!
That was the best situation. No need for them to attack anything, and frankly although Soma would resort to that option if he needed to, but honestly, it was way better to have Order show their own hypocrisy.
So. Starving them out. Tar at every entrance. Tar on the roads. Tar moat instead of tar river. Some way to tie down wings.
The last one was probably the hardest, but a hail of arrows? Lightning? Strong winds? A storm but of nasty stuff instead of...
That gave an idea, but it'd probably also make Ichor angry, so he shelved it.
Wait, no. He didn't even need to do all that. Just a lot of discomfort, over a long period of time should do it. Constant rain that was too hot. Constant rain that was too cold. Sewage problems. Things like that would already cripple the city.
You lived in one for comfort, after all.
Soma's already thinking of a particularly nasty prank. Medieval housing and places like Greek cities, victorian royal housing, and the such had problems with this in particular, and if they didn't have the right infrastructure to deal with it, problems would arise.
But regardless, that was enough brainstorming. Soma would see if he could figure anything out later. First, he'd better go help Yggdra plant seeds and be helpful to Ichor. That way, Yume would have a lot of pressure taken off her.
He ferries her across places, telling her which seeds to plant directly as they alight upon places. The both of them even have to take a quick detour to the climate caves to see if there's any grass seeds they can pick out.
But first, for the sandy sands... They pick a delta full of sand, and start spreading moss seeds around. The moss would anchor the sand, and then grass seeds atop to grow and anchor the sand further.
Small plants and bushes next, and once soil had been established, trees.
Since they were close to the sea, it could also be another place to live at for bloblings, an alternative to Reinala's place. Out of spite, the both of them plant tropical seeds and seeds that wouldn't thrive in the climate caves. That way some plants wouldn't be monopolized by Reinala's city, for sure.
Some exotic seeds are also planted here, just in case. Soma doesn't think they'll grow, but why waste the chance?
And so and so on further. Soma's busy helping out Yggdra. That's pretty much it, for a while.
Yggdra's given Soma things to think about. Fighting back doesn't have to be active. It can be passive as well, and while he'd always thought about giving less power to the faction that would have a bone to pick with him a good thing, he also wasn't exactly sure about being proactively destructive. So this would be good.
Less seeds for the mountains, and more for the sands. That seemed good, and would arrest the blobling migration as well. Ichor seemed to have a larger base in the Smiley sands, regardless. So what would be good...
... Ah, Soma supposes that he could help out with fixing the huts that got wrecked because of him that time. That, and making sure that there was always enough food in the Smiley sands, too much opportunity for the city in the mountains to really ignore.
Oh, he could also help with innovation! That was probably better. Maybe something that could make use of the sea? Irrigation systems, of course. The tides would do it for them.
He begins shoveling sand and creating flats, trying to pack in mud. Perhaps he can take some from the swamp! Oh right, the swamp, that would be good... The sea could eventually pack the transplanted soil full of oxygen. Perfect.
More than that, it just doesn't make sense. What do they do down there? Nothing. They might not be Eris bloblings when saved.
And the more bloblings they trap, the more of an annoyance they appear to become.
This... this won't do. The Tar pits themselves are a problem. And Soma might actually have an idea to fix them up.
After all, a long, long time ago, there were things of 'fantasy'. Things that can exist now, with the power of magic. If you want chaos, it can't be from stagnancy.
The best plans are the ones where you don't have to do anything for blobs to get attracted to it. He remembers the glowing tree that he'd used, the sweets. What if things were those were... underground?
Could you really make a mystery dungeon with tar pits? A layer of tar, and then a labyrinthine network beneath, of wonder, of exploration. If you'd want out, you'd have to fight your way out, or be rescued, fighting beasts of awe along the way, with the potential lure of treasure.
And Eris bloblings could live near that place. That way, they'd be stronger, know how to fight more. Defend themselves against Themis bloblings.
And stay hidden, underground.
Soma thinks this could work.
