Sand Mini Mission - May 2022
(Suki)
Suki slapped her knee threw her hands up in the air. "I thought you'd never ask!" After all, they had been sitting out here quite a while, chatting and discovering the EB, one-sidedly discussing how cool Terrea was as a place outside of just the desert. Suki clomped over to Jiggy as he slept and opened one of his saddle bags to pull out the Spontaneous Napping Blanket. Normally she wouldn't want sand (the mineral, not the blobling) all over it, considering how hard it (not they) would be to get out, but this was a special gods-damned occasion.
Suki helped Sand (the blobling, not the mineral, although the latter was hard to avoid) into the blanket and used her half of the shared poffdula pod to scoop some more of what might be either blobling or mineral into the blanket as well. It was honestly kind of hard to tell.
"Like I said!" the cyclops-blob excitedly half-shouted as she scooped Sand up like a bindle without the stick, "It's way easier to get around by Meowler, right?! But then like most of them are small and that must be pretty lame, but Jiggy is H U G E and so one of his steps is pretty long. We'll get there faster on a Big Boye." She laid the blanket across Jiggy's broad, furry shoulders and patted the Meowler awake. "He's a little stupid, though, so like, hold on. I'll help, too, but if you've got a hand or something under there..."
She swung her leg over the Meowler and held on to both a thatch of Jiggy's fur and the side of Sand while they tilted and rose and rose until they were nearer the stars than maybe Sand had ever been. Suki got goosebumps at that little bit of meta thinking and shook her head to clear it.
Off they were to B's city, as Suki had initially offered. She narrated their trip each time she saw something interesting; a different chromillia, some weird little fauna, anything interesting on the horizon. When they actually arrived within the city's walls, Suki slowed Jiggy to an urban-appropriate gait and gestured around them.
"There was literally nothing here before," she explained, "Bloblings sort of all got together and made all this. B, though, she's the real hero here! She was just kind of small and sad and liked building, and then just...evo'd different and headed all this. There was this big invasion once--I wasn't here for it, but everybody talks about it--by some guy named Verming or something and a bunch of crazy-wild blobs. I guess that's when B got like...big. She also has freckles!" Suki is quiet a moment, and then says, in an uncharacteristic tone of almost-tenderness, "You'd look pretty cute with freckles. You know, like. If you evo some. It'd be real cute."
Jiggy huffed the air then and gave a satisfied sigh. Suki pointed to one of the primitive huts, which seemed to be billowing smoke into the air.
"OH. OH. THAT PLACE IS GREAT!" she says excitedly, and guides Jiggy again in the direction of the wonderful-smelling hut. "Food is really great, and it's sorta different everywhere you go. We should stop in for sure. They know me there. Uh. Kinda. Sorta." The way Suki guided her long-time meowler companion was calculated and smooth, unlike literally everything else the blobling did. "Oh, but, uh. Okay, so we're gonna need to have a quick talk about fauna..."
This was only the first stop of the adventure, and Suki would not stop gesturing or explaining except to hear Sand's reactions and responses. It was weird, to have such a quiet and reserved new friend, but how cool to be able to show someblobby the world!!
