01/02/24 Hey there!
It's February now!
IT'S LOVE MONTH doki doki uwu
This month is a bleed month, and this month we're trying out a brand new thing; seasonal mutations! This month, players may opt in for some fun, v-day themed mutations. Just say yes or no on the form when the time comes! Bleed Season will be starting on the 3rd at 7:00 PM EST, so hold on to your butts.
Our Discord server is invite only. Please DM Ichor or Saerfall after you've submitted your blobling claim form, and we'll send you an invite link. We spend most of our time on our Discord, so if it seems quiet here, we're probably all sequestered away in our server.
Sand. Silky, warm, sand; it was the first thing that a young and newly-awoken Blobling would be aware of, as she stirred for the first time in her life. Slowly, she would open her eyes; faintly noting that the world around her was sideways - the young Blobling having been laying on her side. Carefully, she would upright herself without even thinking twice about the motion - still sleepy and groggy, feeling as though she had been asleep for a long, long, time.
Slowly but surely though, the young Blobling would begin to glance around; faintly recognizing that her surroundings were strange and unfamiliar.
Slowly but surely, she would - as she tried to glance down at herself - realize that even her own body felt strange and unfamiliar. Had she always been this small, and had it always been this hard to look at herself..?
Slowly but surely, she would even note her own thoughts and memories, running through her head as they pleased; though the memories in particular felt so distant, like a dream that was already fading from one's mind.
And then, suddenly, realization would strike like a bolt of lightning - hitting the Blobling all at once.
Where was she, she would ask herself? What was she, she would ask herself?
And finally - perhaps most importantly - came the question of who was she?
The first two questions would be left without an answer for the time being, it'd seem; newly born as she was, with seemingly nobody like herself in sight. There wasn't anyone she could ask any of the questions on her mind, nobody to teach her about the wheres and whats and whos. The third question, however, would be answered almost automatically, much to the newborn Blobling's relief; the answer coming to her as if sprouting from the depths of those murky and indiscernible memories, suddenly becoming a clear and distinct name.
She didn't know how she knew, but her name must've been Tsukiko, right? Even if it wasn't her true name, it was a name that felt comfortable, familiar, and right overall; the barest thought of it bringing a soft smile to her face. Even saying it to herself - the young Blobling breathing out a soft "Tsukiko..." - felt good. Yes, this is what she would call herself.
But! Tsukiko would soon shake her head (though it felt more like she was shaking her entire body!) to bring more important thoughts to the forefront. She knew who she was now; but what about where? If she didn't have anyone to answer that question for her, then she clearly had to figure it out herself!
Now that the young Blobling was properly awake and alert, she wouldn't waste much more time in glancing about herself, to take stock of her surroundings!
And first and foremost, the biggest thing she'd notice was all the sand that she had felt before as she awoken; seemingly endless, as far as the eye could see. It felt warm and soft beneath her, and the softness itself was quite nice and pleasant... But the warmth in particular she couldn't help a brief grumble at, almost wondering if it wasn't too warm out here. Was there any shade in the area, that she could take shelter under? Or, perhaps, a pool of water to cool down in...?
Glancing about with more purpose this time around, Tsukiko wouldn't be able to spot any bodies of water; but there certainly was some strange flora, off in the distance...! Namely, a massive flower-like tree; gentle and melodic coos seeming to be coming from its direction. Maybe that'd fit the bill?
Briefly, Tsukiko would attempt to move forward, towards the flower-tree; although would initially only manage to lurch forward somewhat awkwardly, having tried to move in a way that she obviously couldn't. She'd end up with her face mushed into the ground, and couldn't help but grunt and splutter a bit as she rolled herself back upright once more! Okay, maybe this was going to take a little bit of trial and error...
Shaking herself to get rid of any grains of sand sticking to her body, Tsukiko would have to experiment a bit - figuring out what she could do. Rolling, obviously, was one option of locomotion - she'd already done it a couple of times now (thrice even, if one counted mushing her face into the sand.) However, it didn't really work as a convenient (or safe) way of moving around; though she certainly could pick a direction and just start rolling, it wasn't pleasant to mush her face into the sand, and she couldn't exactly see where she was going when she got started!
Best case scenario, sure, she could get to her destination just fine. But worst case scenario, she could end up straying off course without realizing it - or she could roll into some unseen or moving obstacle! No, it was much better to find an alternative, if she possibly could. The only question though, was what that alternative would be.
Rocking and wiggling back and forth, Tsukiko would attempt to see if she could slide or push herself forward - although the best she could accomplish was nearly 'falling' on her face again, and nudging herself forward maybe an inch or two. It was not a lot, for what was a good bit of effort!
Eventually though, Tsukiko would figure out something that would work; namely, hopping! Hunkering down and tensing up her body, she would practically fling herself into the air at a forwards angle; managing to cover some ground, plus some when her body would briefly bounce forward a couple of additional paces. Nearly, she'd tip forward for the third time today; but as she found her bearings and attempted yet another bounce, it was easy to say that this would be her locomotion of choice.
Smiling to herself in a satisfied fashion, Tsukiko would begin to bounce along towards the flower-tree; doing her best to chain the hops together as she got a feel for them.
As she moved though, Tsukiko couldn't help but let her gaze wander upwards; noting the sky properly, after having been sidetracked by the notions of finding someplace to cool off, and of figuring out how to move around. Already, the reddish (perhaps orange-ish) hue of it felt strange to her in a way she couldn't quite describe; the words escaping her as she tried to find them. But, she wouldn't really linger on it for all that long - not when there was instead something beautiful to be found in the sky; namely, the six stars that hung high above, glimmering and twinkling each in their own color of the rainbow.
Staring up at those stars, absolutely dazzled, Tsukiko couldn't help but find them - to put it simply - quite beautiful; unable to help but stare... Though, her admiration would also lead to a brief spot of trouble; namely, nearly hopping right into a Camivian hole! As the ground seemed to tilt underneath her, Tsukiko squeaked in surprise and a hint of fear; the sand sliding underneath her as she began to lose her footing. It would be when she'd manage to practically fling herself out of the hole, tumbling and bouncing a short distance away, that she'd be on solid(ish) ground once more, her heart hammering.
Before long though, an almost avian-looking head would pop out from the hole; a Camivian, wondering what the ruckus was! Initially, Tsukiko would jolt back a bit - surprised and still on edge after nearly having tumbled into the hole - but she wouldn't flee, instead simply staring at the terrestrial bird in a mix of wariness and curiosity.
The bird, though, likely noticed Tsukiko's anxiety - for as soon as both beings made eye contact, the young Blobling was aware of... A sense of calm, settling over her, almost. A soothing feeling that was definitely foreign - yet appreciated, as the hammering of her heart began to ease.
It was a strange feeling, really; and it took Tsukiko a good minute for her to realize that it was coming from the Camivian! Yet, no longer afraid, the young Blobling would slowly - and very carefully, to avoid falling into the hole - approach the avian; as the Camivian, too, approached her in turn. Both beings regarded eachother with a mutual curiosity, Tsukiko tilting from side to side to try and look at the bird from other angles. Those talons and beak were quite impressive and sharp, yet the Camivian was perfectly friendly, it seemed; simply looking her over in turn, just as she was looking it over.
In their mutual observations though, Tsukiko would note the jewels on the Camivian's forehead - murmuring a soft "Pretty..." to herself. The Camivian, though, would catch this - and in response, began to cheerily 'clap' with its wings, a joyful vibe falling over Tsukiko all the while! Tsukiko couldn't help but giggle a bit at this, briefly commenting "Aren't you a cutiepie?" with a wide smile. Even without the empathy, this quirky bird's happiness was positively contagious; and that happiness only seemed to grow with Tsukiko's compliments and comments!
Before long though, the Camivian would eventually decide to return to its digging - the joyful feeling persisting as it reached up a wing to pat the young Blobling on the 'head', before departing back down into its hole.
Tsukiko would giggle once more from the headpat; almost wishing that she could wave to the Camivian, as it disappeared back down. Though, she would still chirp a brief "Bye-bye!" before she'd turn back around - the melodious cooing of that strange flower-tree once more bringing her back on track. Right! Treetime!
Thankfully, there would be no further distractions on this little trek - not taking long at all, for her to near the roots of the tree - taking in the sheer scale of it all... This strange flowery tree was huge...! And very accommodating, at that; the Chromillia she sat under briefly lifting its colorful petals, so as to give her proper shade.
