Our Discord server is invite only. Please DM Ichor or Saerfall after you've submitted your blobling claim form, and we'll send you an invite link. We spend most of our time on our Discord, so if it seems quiet here, we're probably all sequestered away in our server.
Hummm handed walked as quietly as she could. Which wasn't easy because the ground was wet and wanted to make little sucking and slurping noises every time she pulled a hand up.
"Sorry" She whispered. She then decided that hovering might be quieter. Hummm moved closer to Petra. So that she too could look at the silly looking creature. "Oh wow! That one looks so cool." Hummmm said in as low a voice as possible.
"We should try and catch it so we can see what it would do if we poked it."
Hummm let herself sink back down to the ground and then slowly slivered into the water.
Petra sat still for a few moments as the little creature seemed to become more comfortable. It started to move again. Petra watched it closely, until finally...they didn't strike at it. Without any hands or feet, Petra couldn't poke the thing without using their whole body.
Petra looked over to Hummmm, who was moving quietly through the water, and at her more useful limb configuration. Petra envied having limbs, really, and wondered why they didn't have any.
"You're better at poking. Now!"
The creature tensed, but their voice was low enough enough that it couldn't be sure if Petra was a threat or not. Petra happily waited to see what it would do when their friend caught it.
Hummm had swam as close as she dared to the funny looking creature.
She wondered if she was close enough. "Now!" Petra shouted. And she surged forward to make a grabbed at the creature with both hands. She felt the slipper creature wiggle in her hands but she held on. With both hands full she found that she had to use her tail to swim back to where Petra was sitting waiting.
Humm found that she had to swish her tail pretty hard to keep in place while she streatched up enough so that her friend could see the creature. The Creature struggled even more and Hummm held on tighter. Which made it even hard to hold. The creature sensing that it was close to escape made one last wriggle and squeezed through her hands and plopped back in the waters, leaving its tail behind in her hands.
Petra watched excitedly as Hummmm swam towards her quarry. Petra eyed it curiously as it twitched in their friend's grasp. It was a scaly thing, with feet with little stretchy parts in between its fingers. They had claws, too, which Petra thought was exciting. Petra didn't have any hands, but thought that maybe claws would be good.
The biggest difference between Petra and this slippery creature was that when it escaped Hummmm's grasp, it left its tail behind. What kind of creature could just leave behind a part of its body? Petra moved in closer to get a good look.
"Why do you think it left this part behind? That seems wrong. Would you ever leave a part like this?"
Petra considered what body parts they would want to detach, but realized that they didn’t really have that many. Humm did, they thought enviously. Petra wondered what to do with it too. What could they do with things? So far, Petra had mostly been trying to poke things that they found, but maybe there was something more.
“Give it to me. I can handle it,” Petra stated with false confidence.
Maybe they could use the tail to make the creatures think they were one of them. Then they would be close enough that Petra could poke them properly. Maybe Petra could keep the tail, since they didn’t have any body parts to drop if they were scared.
Humm placed the tail on the ground in front of Petra. She wondered what her friend would do with it. She had no arms to pick it up. Would she put it in her mouth. Wouldn't that mean she would be eating it? Or was there some way to keep something safe inside the mouth like a sack. She would have to try and do that with the next glow grape she put in her mouth.
Humm placed both her hands on the bank and heaved herself up and out of the water. She shook herself dry, spraying water every were.
"Opps sorry" She said sheepishly. "I didn't mean to get you wet."
Petra tried to roll over to pick up the tail with their mouth. It was sort of harder than they would have liked, but easier than expect to get it into the mouth. The problem was, the tail felt all slimy and weird and Petra had to spit it back out. Petra tried to roll at it, but now that it wasn’t attached to the creature anymore, it only twitched a little. That wasn’t enough to move by itself.
As Humm splashed herself dry, Petra pouted. Now they were all wet- which wasn’t so bad, but it was the principle of the thing. Petra turned away from Humm just to make a point. She had to figure out the tail, anyway. Maybe there was a smarter way to do this. Petra looked around for anything to use instead of hands- Humm could do it, but she shouldn’t have to. Petra assessed the vines for the potential to make something to carry the tail- but without arms, how could they take them?
"I can use the vines to carry the tail. Maybe you could try getting some vines for us to use?"
Vines. Yeah she could do that. She hand walked to the nearest clomp of vines she could see and started to pull them apart. She tugged this way and that way and bit by bit she soon had a nice pile of vines. She gathered them up and floated toward her friend.
"I got some vines. "Humm said as she laid them on the ground. What was her friend going to do with them?
Maybe if they tied the vines around Petra's round body and then tie the tail on it might just work. So she started wrapping the the vines around Petra.
