Previously on Fool's Marsh March: The group- Evrah, Kip, Aki, Hai, Lullia, and Star- continued on their quest towards their intended future base heading through the Sourglow Swamps with the intent of stopping at the new Onyxia city. The drastically different terrain took some getting used to but after some playful antics, an axolabeb hunt, and a mud fight... they got the hang of it.

Tensions between Evrah and Lullia escalated only to be interrupted as a new blob, Caspen, rushed over and the party was set upon by a group of feral blobs. With mostly minor injuries they defeated the ferals- popping them in the process. Then things boiled over as Lullia accidentally accused Evrah of being a murderer to all of Terrea. The gods, particularly Eris, interject into the confrontation revealing that blobs- even the feral ones they thought they just killed- don't actually die.

This news hit the new and younger blob Caspen hard. With the argument he walked in on, the abrupt fight, and accusations he thought he could earn the group's trust by testing the theory for them- to die and see if he came back. When the group failed to convince Caspen otherwise Evrah felt the need to lay down rules of conduct for the group to abide by if they were to continue together. The group, in various ways, agreed to the contract. However, having upset the party with his actions, Caspen was denied by Evrah. Kip and Aki however requested that Caspen would be allowed to continue to the city with them.

TLDR Plot Updates:

Division And Addition -The group splits up to explore the city. Kip and Star have a friendly match in the arena. Hai accompanies Aki to the library to where she writes a book. Lullia takes part in an arena match herself. Caspen does as well. Evrah and Star venture through the park. Kip accidentally broadcasts some suggestive activity through the groups friendzy, upsetting or confusing much of the group. A troubled Evrah is approached by Lor and, not having the ability to deal with anything, added her to the group for the others to handle. (link)

As they approached the city, Aki began to bounce faster. She kept going fast and faster until she was going faster than she had ever before! She was just so excited to finally be here. She slid to a stop and looked back and the group. "C'mon guysss!"
She didnt even realize, but she had grown legs! That was how she had gone so fast, she was running and she didnt even know. She smiled excitedly at the group, and ushered that they follow. "Look at all the sssstuff they've got here!!" She said, looking over her shoulder at the city. "Thissss is sso excsssiting!!" She exclaimed, admiring all of the interesting things there. She stick close to the group though, as to not get separated, and sat and waited for them to catch up to her, which wouldn't take very long.

The fools' mood had lifted considerably as the city finally came in sight, with Aki's own 'change' causing most of the current ruckus. Kip was absolutely beaming, trotting excitedly with her while she tested her new legs and wings, and held that excitement the closer they got. It felt weird, but the pup was so ready for a little break after trekking through the desert and swamp for who knows how long.

With everyone (seeming to be) in high spirits, the squad entered the city close to what appeared to be the largest tower there. This was the library to the left, with what seemed to be houses to the right of them, a clearing of trees and grass that might be the park, and roads winding with circular motions across the place. There were blobs everywhere! Maybe not in as huge numbers or density as the fair, but Kip was starting to appreciate just how many blobs there actually were.

"...Alright, everyone!" Kip spoke above the sound of the crowd, making sure the rest of the Fools could hear and sending the same message in their private Friendzy chat. "We ain't in a big hurry to get outa here, so take yer time 'n enjoy yerselves. 'fore we do, though, just wanna come up with some kinda plan. Better to have it 'n not need it, ya know?"

"So right over there's the library, looks like we should be able ta see it from anywhere in the city. Let's make this our meetin' place: whenever we're ready to leave, or if there's any trouble, we can all meet right out front 'n go from there." He looked around to make sure everyone was listening. "'figure we can all split off 'n explore if we wanna, no need to be glued to eachother, just yell out on Friendzy if yer in trouble or anything. 'N Caspen," Kip's gaze finally settled on the new yellow blob, still holding his friendly, excited expression. "Ya've been good so far, we'll talk 'bout things more once we've all settled down a bit. Besides that...If anybody's got concerns, now's the time ta speak up. Otherwise, Go nuts!"

"So like I said, I'm thinkin' of checkin out the Arena sooner rather than later, but I'm up for anythin'." This statement was made to nobody in particular, but the pup's gaze was firmly on Ev as he spoke. "Whatarey'all lookin' to get into?"

Hai couldn't help but beam at Aki's recent evolution, feeling rather proud at seeing her grow up even though it was so sudden. The city was loud, but he could tell it was exciting and that all of them seemed to look forward to exploring.

He patiently listened to Kip as he gave everyone a debrief, although he couldn't help but interject when it came to Caspen. "Maybe...don't go nutss..." He couldn't help but dryly call out. The blob had been very apologetic on Friendzy, but Hai had been avoiding the messaging system since the last incident. Aki's evolution was a festive occasion, however, so even he couldn't help but give a small smile to Caspen. It was all forgiven, for now.

To Hai, both the library and arena sounded interesting. He tilted his head to look up at Aki (how strange of a feeling that was) and asked her if she had any preferences. If Kip were to compete, which the pup most definitely looked like he was going to, it might be nice to go and support their fellow Fool. However, today was Aki's evo day! She'd have the choice.

Caspen was feeling... how were they feeling? It was hard to explain. Excited, sad, anxious, thrilled, all thumping around clumsily in their head.
They had been extra cautious, not to show even an inkling of a bad thought, and Kip had acknowledged that. They let themself feel a small glimmer of hope, not overwhelming, but enough to let the joy win over in their head. "The city!! I want to do so much! I've heard so much!" Caspen chuckled a little, trying to bring emotion back under check. "Uh, I want to see the library? But I probably shouldn't go alone. You know, just in case?" Caspen glanced out at the incredible flowing crowd of blobs, feeling strangely guilty. "Especially not with the amount of unfamiliar blobs here," they muttered. Energy flowed through them as they interjected themself again: "No!! Wait wait wait, I feel like the arena would be good for me! Uh, a good place to, take out some energy and um, improve my protection. I don't know!! There's SO much!!!!"

As the city came into view Evrah's general mood had improved... somewhat. The tall black towers loomed and he found himself wishing this place, beautiful as he found it, had been here before he had left for the desert. As Evrah listened to the rest of Kip's spiel his mouth slowly curled back into a smug grin. It only faltered slightly as he was reminded of their addition, but even then he approved of Kip's handling of it. Yes, that could be deal with later.

He had noticed the yellow blob's apologies in chat even if he hadn't replied to them. Words alone couldn't fix the actions. The snake blob couldn't excuse the fact that this blob had looked him directly in the eyes and disrespected him in the same moment. Heck, it hadn't even been just him. Every single one of them had told him to put the idea from his head. They had been everything from gentle to direct and the blob hadn't cared enough to stop. As such, Evrah couldn't afford to care in return. And the yellow blob had been correct about one thing, the blob was new to them. As such this blob wasn't yet under his skin like she had somehow become. This blob could be ignored, and so he would.

As far as their sight seeing though, Evrah had no specific place he wanted to go to first. Fairly content to just take in the sense of civilization and they could get around to everything eventually. He bobbed his head at the pup, "It's a place to start. I'll join you."

Star had been walking backwards so that she could keep talking to the group. It wasn't until she started noticing that her friends were looking behind that she turned to see what they were looking at.

Tall round buildings seemed to be growing right out of the swamp. There were nine smaller towers and one bigger one. And another round building started coming into view the closer they came.

" Oh wow! " Star breathed. She could not wait to get there and explore.

Kip was saying something about a meeting a place and going to the Arena, which in her mind was just as good as anywhere else in this new place.

" Oh yes!" She said excitedly. "Hey kip race you there!" And Star took off toward the bigger of the buildings.

Excellent, it seemed a few of them would go, or would consider it at least! "A'ight then!" Kip yelled in excitement, practically twirling in place as he spoke. He hadn't fully processed what the cat had said, and tore off after her after a double take, laughing all the while.

The pup dashed off after Star, gracefully weaving between and under everyone in his path. Several called after him to be careful or shout some unsavory names, but Kip was in too good of a mood to care. The pavement and air around him felt warm and dry, soaking into every fiber of his being and shaking free the dampness and stress of the past few days. Life was fantastic right now, and he was gonna make the best of it, shouting after Star and continuing to laugh.

Right outside the arena, Kip skid to a stop, but only for a moment. The pups eyes grew so wide his eyes might burst out, mouth spreading into a wide smile. "GRAND OPENING - Sign-ups inside!" The sign in front of him read. Already he was dashing for the entrance, shouting that he was ready to fight and if he was the first.

...Some time later, Kip was in the square ring, surrounded by blobs peppering the stands all around. Star had agreed to spar with him as the very first arena match, and he felt it was a great one to start with! Both put up a good fight, but Kip came out the victor, with a local blob named Velvet commentating.

After their bout, Kip chatted with Star in the ring for a minute, before following Velvet down a corridor under the stands, seemingly caught up in conversation and not emerging for a while.

((Having Kip 'be away' for a few minutes in plot, will be back shortly! Figure whoever wants to be at the arena can watch the fight (linked above, and right here!) and react in this thread & go from there?))

The rest actually had helped Lullia get some energy back, and she was in a very good mood. The city was huge, and completely different than any city that Lullia had seen before. Most surprising of all were the sheer number of circles. The group in general seemed to be in a pretty good move. Aki had evolved, too, which was especially good news!

"I don't really have much of a preference, so I'll probabaly tag along if you guys go to the arena!"

Lullia's tail flicked back and forth easily, and she was actually standing casually for once. Kip and Star started racing towards the arena, and Lullia decided that there was no better time to show off a little. Spreading her new wings wide, Lullia took off, following the group from above. Nyvo followed her on the ground. Overall, everything was going pretty well.

She thoroughly enjoyed the arena match, whooping whenever either pulled off something particularly impressive.

"Hmm.... preferences?" She said quizzically. "Well, I'm not big on fighting. I'd love to go watch Kip and Star-" something caught her eye. The Library, off in the distance, looked like an interesting building. She lost her train of thought, and began slowly walking towards the Library. "What's in there...?" She asked intrigued.
As she walked in, the large building stretched high above her head, and large shelves surrounded her. There were only a few books on them (when she wrote her book, the library was new, and not many books were written yet.) She ran over to one of the shelves, and picked the first book she saw. "The Ultimate Battle..." she said, reading the cover. She flipped it over, and read the synopsis on the back as well. "This seems... interesting! Wonder who wrote it, doesnt seem to have an author on it anywhere..." she said, scanning it and flipping through it to try and find one. Suddenly her eyes lit up. "GAASP! HAI HAI HAI!!" she said, gaining some harsh stares and a few angry 'shhh!'s from around her, and she lowered her voice. "What if I wrote a book?" She asked him, while bouncing from paw to paw in excitement.

Progress had been made all around on the last leg of their march through the marsh. Kip was taking charge and being a bit more responsible than he had been before. Star was still impulsive… perhaps that would need to be added to his list soon. So far, it’s all been within reason enough, so he had no real issue with her antics. Evrah was pleased to find that he could rely on Hai as a friend now as well. Then there was little Aki, who was a little less little now. Aki was... well she was Aki and really that’s all she needed to be. Even Lullia seemed more genuinely at ease which… actually that did unnerve him a bit. Perhaps she felt more secure with all those new eyes of hers? He wasn’t sure but… tentatively he dubbed it an improvement.

Still no apology though…

Then they were off. Star first, prompting Kip to follow on her heels and then Lullia took off after them in the air. Evrah adjusted his own wings in thought but- no. He hadn’t even truly attempted to use them for more than boosting small hops. A public space like this was not an ideal testing ground. He’d walk.

Then the yellow blob reminded him that he was still there.

Evrah was smiling, but he was no longer even content as he settled in for the Kip vs. Star match. He was just behind the blob who had taken on the roll of announcer. When she fumbled for the names Evrah had leaned his head down over the wall to inform her of their full names before sitting back. He didn’t make much noise- gods know everyone else was doing enough of that for him- but each time the two showed off their skill his fixed smile would shift into something more satisfied until the fixed smile didn't return. In the end Kip won but the snake blob was satisfied with both of their performances. As he personally reviewed the match and was considering where the two might be able to improve, he watched Kip and the announcer- he was fairly sure she had said her name was Velvet, exit the ring. He figured it wouldn’t take too long for Kip to find him.

As Evrah waited, he watched distractedly as a red blob faced off against a larger more evolved blob for a little while before it became clear that Kip wasn’t going to be coming up to the stands. That annoyed him but… then again, the stands were massive. It wasn’t like the tiny arena at the fair, so maybe he’d wait outside the entrance. With his usual long strides, he found himself seated outside the main entrance in no time. Loitering and people watching with some aggravation.

“…umm… excuse me?...”

Evrah looked down at the blob who had approached him. The small thing flinched at his sharp gaze. “Yes?”

“A-aah… umm… can.. I mean… your… sorry… your … err… I mean”

Evrah waited, unimpressed, as the blob fumbled and restarted several times before he got the point. The blob was asking for his name. “Evrah.” He said abruptly cutting off the fidgeting blob who was just becoming less coherent the longer they went. The blob went quiet immediately. Their mouth continued to flap noiselessly for a moment before they suddenly darted off leaving the snake-blob blinking at nothing.

Hai had nodded and followed Aki as the rest of their group took off to the coliseum. Perhaps another day...Kip would certainly fill him in on anything he missed. It was with some surprise to Hai that it was significantly harder to keep up with Aki now that she had legs. Her strides were now much longer than Hai's own shuffling. He kept up, though and watched as Aki entered the mostly empty library, entranced by the building and making a beeline towards the nearest book.

When she looked up from the book, filled with excitement from the possibility of writing her own book, Hai couldn't help but chuckle. "I'm ssure you can, Aki..." They managed to ask one of the blobs at the library where to find the appropriate materials (seemed like the library accepted anything a blobling wrote) so the two headed down to the papyrill forest, gathering tons of pages and quills for Aki. Hai turned to Aki with their haul in tow, "Do you want to find a place to sstay and write? Or would you rather go back to the library?"

Caspen had been 'reasoning' with the big scary blob, if you could even call it that. The emotional toll was strangely great, it seemed. Oh well. They'd try again in a while. Coming in just barely too late to watch Kip fight Star, unable to find any of their guardians, Caspen decided to Fight a battle of their own. Although very injured, their head had been mercifully cleared. Pain seemed to do something to their psyche. See, this is why death would hurt, they murmured in their head. I'm not an idiot. I just like being secure in my mortality. Well, that was fun, and since the shackles of the 'fools' had been loosened, Caspen guessed it was time for a new adventure. An adventure of words on paper! They had wanted to read the stories of others since they realized what the library contained, and, more importantly, they Really needed a nap. Gingerly heading that direction, they allowed themself to be swept away in the crowd.

Star had the time of her life fighting Kip down in the arena. After the fight she looked up into the stands and noticed most of her friends were there. Cheering her and kip on.

She did a little bow. And then trotted out of the arena.

She exited the arena and immeditaly noticed the dark figure of Evrah. He seemed to be talking to a red blobling. Well maybe not talking as it seemed that the blobling was doing most of the talking. As she got closer the red blob suddenly left.

"Did you see that! I was awesome! And so was Kip!" Star was bouncing in place and her eyes were shining with excitement.

"I wonder what else there is to see here. Where are you going next Evrah? "

At Star's approach a pair of Evrah's eyes immediately glanced behind her doing a quick scan before returning to her. His head bobbed in agreement with the black uni-kitty's excitement. His irritation mellowing a bit in the face of her apparent joy. "You both did well. It was a close match in spite of Kip having a bit of an advantage." He offered before a slight smirk tugged at his mouth, "That could make you the better fighter in the long run, but I suppose a rematch or two later on should determine that for sure."

But as far as where he was going next... well... after shooting another glance at the arena's entrance the snake-blob stood and arched his back in a lazy stretch. He knew at least Hai and Aki were at the library and he might as well check that out. "All the obvious attractions are right here," He said speaking of the stretch of land from the arena through the park and to the library. With a bob of his head to indicate the park he added, "I figure I'll take the scenic rout to the library if you care to join me." He awaited her answer then set off though the park in his usual leisurely pace. He meandered a windy trail through the park, people watching and pausing to examine the papyrills that grew there.
