Bloblings have begun hanging out in groups all around Terrea! They're calling them 'blobling initiatives', which sounds weirdly formal, but they're still a highly curious occurence... maybe you should check them out?
01/12/23 Hey there!
It's DECEMBER now!
It's snow month now! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, I hope you're all ready! To start with, as always, we've updated the site with some new Prompts and Dailies. This month, we're allowing players to choose which prompts they'd like to do, so surprise me! I'm looking forward to seeing what you all pick.
The mods are busy brewing up the droplets for your viewing pleasure. In the meantime, this month is an Evolution Phase! Players will get to submit their blobs for our on-site artists to evolve, and help you bring your visions to life. This month's Evo Phase will be starting on the 6th.
Our Discord server is invite only. Please DM Ichor or Saerfall after you've submitted your blobling claim form, and we'll send you an invite link. We spend most of our time on our Discord, so if it seems quiet here, we're probably all sequestered away in our server.
Just a little ahead of the group, Kip didn't notice the goings-on of Lullia, Hai and Evrah behind him. He was already in conversation with Aki and Star, not fully grasping the concept of a 'scout'. "Yeah, see, there's that! We'll do better next time. 'Sides, little dirt and fun now and then's good for ya!" He turned ahead and chuckled along with Aki, but Star grabbed his attention and Kip didn't notice her zone out for a moment.
"Wasn't it, though? And yeah, yer right, gotta be more like you!" Kip had a bit of bounce in his step while he chatted with Star, himself happy (for the most part) with the current state of things. At some lull in the conversation, Kip seemed to slow down, looking ahead curiously. "Wait-" He started to call out, then cut himself short, going to his head instead. Be like Star, indeed.
KipToMyLou Waitwaitwait. Hold up.
The pup continued to slow until he stopped mid-step, his paw still raised above the ground. The faint glow of grapes on the vine were the only visual that stood out in the dark wet swamp, but something sounded off. Kip tilted his head towards the noise, trying to pinpoint it. Somewhere ahead, there was a faint echoing...voice?
He couldn't make out what it was saying, it was just gibberish as far as he could tell. And it sounded far enough away, but loud. Like whatever was creating that noise was yelling.
KipToMyLou Somethin' or someone up ahead...what's the play? We avoidin' em?
Hai looked up at Evrah earnestly. "Yess...I wass hoping you and Lullia would join uss..." He couldn't help but feel very disappointed that both of them had ignored him. It was important to trust who had your back after all. It didn't bode well, but he would let it slide for now. Perhaps they would not appreciate his observations and whatever happened between them would be something he'd keep an eye out on.
He didn't let his outward expression show any of this. After all, one of his best skills was his poker face and slow, monotone voice. It was hard to read him unless he consciously put a lot of effort in conveying something. He had let himself slip many times since the moment of his birth and meeting Aki. However, the longer they traveled through the swamp, the more disturbed and unnatural this behavior felt. Although he still enjoyed having fun with the group, something just felt off. Instead a faint nagging emotion had been growing in the back of his mind since noticing whatever it was with Evrah and Lullia. He couldn't figure out what caused his unease so he silently shuffled with Evrah and Lullia quietly observing for now.
The three in the back walked in silence, in stark contrast with the loud chattering Kip, Star, and Aki in front of them.
"You see," Evrah said vaguely in her direction casting a brief glance over his shoulder. "We even have an official invitation as well now." As Evrah turned back to Hai to respond to him directly StarFlight interjected her own opinion about the hunt.
Sneaky was... not quite what he'd call it- but close enough when compared to the others who had ended up caked in mud. He'd give it to her. An amused tug to the corner of his mouth shaped his tone as he nodded to her. "Indeed, I saw. A fair first attempt if an... interesting technique." Though with two invitations Evrah was feeling quite satisfied. If his presence was missed so much he couldn't help but feel a bit smug about that as he turned back to Hai again. "I suppose I'll have to make it up to you next time then." He offered before lapsing into silence as he listened to the chatter in front of them.
Then Kip halted them and his message pinged in Friendzy.
His headwings perked and tilted to better catch the noise himself. He could barely make it out, but a blob would be the only creature out here that would make this level of noise. That didn't necessarily mean trouble...
4EvrahandEvrah It would be best to. It may be fine but... we should at least circle around just in case. Keep a distance, keep our ears and eyes open.
There was a sound, quiet at first, but growing louder than thunder. Caspen had been on their way back to the city from the training grounds when they came across a group of strange, unknown blobs. Like any good potential friend, Caspen yelled out a greeting, accidentally setting off the chat within their mind.
CaspenAspen Hello, I'm Caspen, and who are you?
But the four blobs they could see continued speaking a language unknown, maybe gibberish. The noise began to drown out their thoughts, and Caspen started to realize small differences not there in basic blobs. These weren't like them. They realized they had no idea what these creatures were. Rolling slowly backwards, softly chuckling to hide the fear, Caspen accidentally sent out a message again:
CaspenAspen Al- alright guys, I have to go. See you around?
With that, they spun around and booked it across the sand and into the swamp. They didn't check to see if there was anyone nearby, but if there was, they would have heard a faint "aaaaaAAAAAAAAAA!" Zigzagging like crazy, trying to throw the blobs they thought were tagging off their trail, Caspen got horribly lost. Wet and cold and breathless, they wandered gently through the muck until they saw a group of six. "Oh thank Ichor."
Lullia couldn't belive him sometimes. Evrah seemed almost entirely oblivious, on occasion. Really. Asking why she didn't join them. Like he didn't already know.
Every dandelion set alight.
The thought faded from Lullia's mind almost as quickly as it had intruded, and left only vague terror and the impression of scalding heat. Lullia's tail started to slam against the ground more erratically, the ground squelching and slightly blunting the impact. Nyvo stilled it with a paw, and Lullia realized that her breathing, too, had become aggressive and erratic. She nodded, closed her eyes, and slowly attempted to wipe from her mind the vague imprints of images she only half-remembered.
She'd almost managed to calm herself down when Evrah spoke once again. This time, she couldn't help herself. "You know exactly why I didn't join in." she hissed. Her eyes narrowed to slits, her tail curled, and every muscle in her body tensed. Nyvo blinked, then immediately plopped down over Lullia, blocking her with his paws and lowering his head, turning his own blank stare onto Evrah, eyes narrowed and accusatory.
As such, Lullia didn't see the new blobling coming. She could barely hear so far off in the distance. Rage burned incandescent through her mind, deteriorating her common sense. Through that haze, she could barely think. She barely even managed to register what Kip had said, or what it might imply, but as soon as Evrah even just began to reply, she knew she would disagree.
Lulliaby What if they're someone calling for help? What happened to the whole plan of saving everyone?
She couldn't filter herself properly, not in that kind of a mental state. The anger sifted through, turning her words sharp.
Kip couldn't help but grin: an arena fight with Star? That sounded like an absolute blast! They'd just have to go around whatever that sound was, and they should be set.
But, of course, there always had to be some excitement! Kip smiled at the new yellow blob, trying to get in some sort of greeting, but Star was talking even faster than he was, and the poor pup couldn't get a word in edge-wise. "Not to bring the mood down, but there's somethin' up ahead." He finally broke through. "Lets try and not attract too much attention..."
His thought trailed off. Though he hadn't heard exactly what Lullia had said, her tone and Nyvo's defensive posture told him enough: her & Evrah were squabbling again. And her Friendzy reply, with that biting reply to his & the snakeblob's message.
KipToMyLou Just thinkin' chargin' in this time isn't the best...
As he thought, his mouthing of his friendzy message was spoken aloud. "...what the hell, Lullia?" Kip switched to talking out loud, glaring over at as much of her as he could see from behind Nyvo. "What's goin' on with both of you?" His voice had raised to address both her and Evrah, in that same commanding tone he had used the last time they had squabbled. "I have no idea what you two've been squabblin' about, but can ya at least pretend to like eacho..."
The pup's voice slowly trailed off again, the distant yelling gibberish growing louder. Another sound joined in: something sliding or dragging its way through the bush and mud, like whatever this thing was, it was loud and big. Son of a bitch: maybe his yelling, or Star's excitement at the new blob, or any number of things gave them away, but it was getting closer.
KipToMyLou GuysGuysGUYS. Heads up
The pup tensed and lowered himself, ready to pounce on whatever might of been coming their way through the brush. The screaming and insane gibbering had all his hairs on edge: he wasn't looking forward to this at all, but he'd gladly throw himself at whatever it was first to give the rest of the team time. The trees and bushes shook violently, and out from the bush emerged...
A small, basic yellow blob, mud splattered across their round form. Bright red eyes stared vacantly at them all, a worrying smile completely contrasting with the horrific gibbering sound that it made. The heavy movement through the swamp also seemed to stop just beyond view, though this little guy couldn't of been making those sounds.
"Ehh...Hey there." Kip slowly called out to it.
"AGGRAFLABGAPHABABG" it replied.
KipToMyLou I don't...I got no idea on this one, folks.
Evrah's head snapped in her direction at the tone of her words. It was like she was trying to piss him off. He could only assume that was her intent and it was unfortunately working. He was barely paying attention to the new blob as they were greeted by Kip and Star. He was focused more on the fact that he wasn't actually sure what her problem was. She had reacted poorly to the whole 'lord' thing- which was stupid of her. It's not like he had ever forced anyone to call him that, it was a request. He didn't even bring it up when no one had even used it! But she couldn't let that go and now she was at it again!
But, did he know why she didn't join in?
In his good mood from a moment ago he had assumed that she simply hadn't wanted to play in the mud. It was a sentiment he wouldn't even blame her for. She had complained about it the moment they entered the swamps after all. He had thought they could at least talk and maybe he could finally figure out what her issue truly was if she were in a good enough mood. He was starting to think she didn't do 'good moods'. Furthermore, he was now irritated that she had ruined his good mood as well. The optimism the pleasant mood had afforded him shriveled as he speculated on exactly what she might assume he knew. It was accusatory so she was blaming him for her being unable to join in. He hadn't done anything though, so far as he knew. With nothing else coming to mind he could only conclude she was targeting him. Perhaps she only accused him to put it in everyone's heads that he had actually done something to her and they had just missed it. Devious. He'd have to be more careful is she was playing. What in the world was her end-game then?
4EvrahAndEvrah Not every noise is a cry for help-
Evrah cut himself off as Kip scolded her. He felt vindicated for a terribly short moment before Kip extended the rebuke to the snake blob as well. 'I hadn't DONE anything!' Evrah kept the disgruntled thought in his head while sending the pup a vaguely wounded look. It was fair enough with the pup's current lack of information and Evrah had already decided privately that he preferred Kip claim the roll of leader. As such, he wouldn't argue with him as long as he wasn't entirely wrong.
Besides, there were other things to worry about now. The first new blob, basic and yellow was normal enough to ignore. The second, also yellow and basic, was not. The vacant look and noises it made-
4EvrahAndEvrah Feral! Get back from it!
With the simplicity of the blob Evrah didn't think it would be much trouble for any of their group, even one on one. But you never knew for sure- His eyes were dragged away from the tiny feral as something else had followed it. And this one wasn't as simple or small.
Much like the small one this one seemed wrong. It let out a shout- a roar? Evrah didn't care to analyze the noise as he was more fixed on it's size. This thing, even at this distance, appeared to be at least twice his height if not a bit taller than even Nyvo. It also didn't seem to mind anything in it's way. It just went through it. The spikes jutting out of it's body carved into anything that got in it's way and didn't move with it. In spite of it's scarred body it didn't even acknowledge the impacts- like it didn't feel them. It wasn't going full speed, trees slowed it down... they had time to get a head start if they ran now.

Woah. There was so much going on between this team, running deep. Caspen would be lucky if they could ever understand it, if they would even be allowed to tag along at all. "I, yeah, I'm Caspen. Relatively new, like a week old," They yelled in passing at the beautiful, excited blobling. Their attention was suddenly turned toward the strange other basic blobling, almost a near copy of themself but with a blank, unfeeling stare and fake smile. Another one of the things Caspen had run into! Getting a sudden chill, a visceral reaction to the horrible gargle, and feeling their first ever rush of true fear, they rolled back slowly. As if something had possessed them, they became hysterical."No. NO! That's NOT me! It's NOT! It-it PRETENDS to be a blob!" panting, Caspen stopped for a minute. "It's not me. I don't know what it is." a message rang out inside their own head, an unanswerable distress call:
CaspenAspen No. NO. No. No. NO. NO. Six of these horrible things in one day. A near puncture. Help me. Please. I don't even want to look at it's mocking face anymore.
Lullia's pupils dilated. She was shaking, and bad. He's already got Kip convinced. No. It's not just Kip. It's all of them. They're all- Nyvo leaned into Lullia. She breathed in, just once, slowly. Even if she didn't need to, it was calming sometimes. "thank you." She kept her voice low enough that only Nyvo could hear, and buried herself in his fluff.
Nyvo, for his part, turned the full force of his cold jade glare onto Kip. Not wanting to disturb Lullia, still obscuring her from their view as best he could, Nyvo chose not to growl, but to instead unsheath his claws in a silent threat.
As Lullia composed herself again, he turned to face Kip Where Lullia had clung to his chest fluff, deep blue dripped down it. Nyvo looked down at it, expression wavering only for a moment, and then drew himself up to his full, imposing height, glaring down at Kip. At the arrival of the new blob, he gave it a cursory glance, and, noticing that it was intimidating Kip just fine, instead turned towards Evrah. He wasn't glaring anymore. Instead, he stared, cold and calm and calculated. Anger gave it an edge, but it was a cold kind of anger, the kind to send shivers up one's spine and freeze their blood solid. ------------ (if you don't mind I'm kinda just gonna stick to the current conversation because uh I think we want to avoid getting into the fight for right now and Lullia would absolutely jump right at the ferals regardless of any logic at this point so uhhhhhHHHH.. yep)
Aki, who had been mostly quiet during the trip (other than friendzy), turned to face the feral blobs. They were extremely unsettling, and she backed up a bit in fear. Wait, which one was the feral? Oh, it was talking, that one must be sane... She decided to greet him through friendzy.
~imiAki~ @caspenaspen Hello. Sorry, things are a bit... tense at the moment to say the least. But welcome to our group =3
After a second of her eyeing Caspen to wait for an answer, another message popped up.
~imiAki~ Why are Evrah and Lulia fighting? Was it because of the mud fight? Oh no.... it was I who started it. What if it's my fault-
She halted, realizing her thoughts were shared with the group. "I, uh," she wanted to crawl in a hole and die. Tears formed in her eyes and turned away quickly, hoping nobody saw. A single tear streamed down her face. "I-I'm ssssorr-sss- augh! Why cant I talk like a normal blob?!" She said, the waterworks opening as the rest of the pink tears that had formed in her eyes flooded down her face.
Hai could feel quiet fury boiling under his skin. It was a strangely familiar feeling and instead of filling him with uncontrollable rage it felt like everything was clearer and sharper. He had settled on just observing and seeing how it all turned out, however after multiple Freudian slips by the group on Friendzy (now that he thought about it having a messaging system tied to your thoughts was really dangerous) resulting in Aki crying he could only feel anger. Anger at the two who ignored him and who were stirring up needless conflict. If this was how they were when they had saved him, it was a miracle he was even alive at this moment.
His face was perhaps just as impassive as normal. It felt like second nature as he simply shutdown outward emotion as he slid forward towards Aki, gently trying to gather her up in a hug even without arms. "It'ss not your fault..." He murmured softly towards the smaller blobling, gently petting her head while placing himself between Aki and the more immediate threats. Whatever these strange feral bloblings were, they were clearly the bigger problem right now. Although, he wasn't too comfortable with who he had at his back either now...
Star was thinking of some more questions when the next blobling appeared. She was going to go introduce herself to this one but something was not quite right.
Maybe it was the blank nothingness or maybe it was the sounds it was making. But what really cemented her unease was the new bloblings reaction.
When the second feral, Star now realized that was what these new bloblings were, appeared. Smashing their way through the undergrowth. She found herself standing in front of the blobling she had been talking to. Her hackles raised and her stance combative she waited to see what was going to happen.
What...what the actual hell was going on? It was like his team was starting to tear itself apart with drama before his eyes. A new threat was barreling down on them, but most of the group were still arguing or dealing with their own personal stuff, practically ignoring the newcomer and ferals. Ev seemed composed, but had been part of some nonsense with Lullia for a while now: who knew how deep that went. Would need to talk later. Lullia was shaking and crying into Nyvo, who was glaring into Kip's soul like he didn't have a point. The newcomer Caspen was freaking out over the feral that looked like them. Aki was getting upset and crying as well. Gods damn it, why was everyone doing this now?!?
He wanted to help. Desperately. But there wasn't much he could do to bring peace of mind to the rest of the assembled team. Instead, he turned to the one problem he could actually solve: the two yellow ferals making their way towards them.
"HEY!" Kip barked loudly, his gravelly voice booming with authority. The pup stood tall, glancing about the collective group and newcomer. He'd piss Nyvo off, a couple others might freak. Whatever. Future problem for future Kip. "Put it on hold for now, got bigger problems." He continued, turning his gaze and voice to the serpentine feral barreling towards them as quickly as it could through the brush. Nasty looking spikes, but none on its head. Bigger than him, but not as tall as the blob eating bulb they had fought in the desert. Yeah, this could work. KipToMyLou I don't like our odds of runnin' right now. We can take 'em.
He couldn't lie, he was looking forward to this fight. This time he was more tempered, a bit more in control of himself and ready to work with the team. But a part of him had been growing antsy with all the drama unfolding in front of him, and he couldn't wait to cut loose. He placed himself in front of Caspen, standing shoulder to shoulder with Star (height difference aside) and ready to meet the charging, roaring ferals. "Waddya say Star, ready to bust 'em up?"
Glancing up at the shield of bloblings around them, Caspen was able to escape the prison of their own head. Still not quite sure why their thoughts were being amplified, a new message was sent out:
CaspenAspen These bloblings care about me. The first thing I do is lose myself in fear and they protect me.
Caspen steeled themself. They apologized to the only two that seemed to recognize his breakdown. "Thank you. Thank you. I'm sorry." Realizing that their strange near-clone was nothing like them, that there was no true thing to be afraid of, Caspen rolled, very slowly, up to the first blob he interacted with. Star. What a nice name. Staying slightly behind her, they felt a rush of adrenaline. Their first battle. They had been training, and now it was time to show what they could do. "Please forget about what I did. I can make it up to you. I want to fight it, the one nothing like me. I want to fight them all. It's time to prove myself. Did I introduce myself? I know now isn't really the time, but I'm Caspen, and I am not a coward."
