The Inquisistar I don't know. I have never done this either.
Star looked back to look at Aki and nearly fell into the pond. "Your hovering!" She exclaimed forgetting about being quiet. After getting over her fright she looked back over the pond. Her out cry may have cost them but she was determined to find one of those Axelababo thingys.
The thought of sitting still made her skin crawl. She didn't think she could stand to be still long enough. Maybe if the entered the pond she could find one quicker.
The Inquisistar I am going in. See if I can find it.
And Star slipped into the water. Only the tips of her ears showing.
Aki slowly looked down. "I-I am?!" Then realized that they needed to be quiet as well. She tacked on, very quietly, "ssssssorry!" And started hovering forward. Now that she was aware of her floating, it felt unnatural. She moved sporadically while trying to go forward. She could hover over the water without getting wet, and still look for them. Except when she found one. Then she would have to get wet trying to catch it. But she didnt really thing about that. She continued moving around atop the water, occasionally dipping the bottom of her body in unpurposely.
KipToMyLou How did I even forget we could do that? Lookin' good Aki!
Kip let himself chuckle out loud both at Aki's surprise, and by the cat ears sticking out from under the water like two fuzzy shark fins. He was fairly certain that they weren't gonna find anything at this rate, but just as he was going to mention turning back, something in a tree caught his eye. He couldn't quite tell what it was, the way the leaves obscured most of its shape. But just in case it was an axolebeb, the pup thought of just the thing.
Still grinning, Kip scooped up some mud and started forming into as much of a ball as he could, then squinted at the object, tongue poking out slightly in his concentration. If he could at least get close to hitting the thing, it should either fall or jump down to the pond where Star was waiting.
KipToMyLou Eyes sharp, watch this!
With that, the pup chucked the ball of mud as hard as he could at the object in the tree...which didn't get far at all. The ball split into a couple big chunks, one heading towards Aki, and the other landing in the pond with a heavy splash. He mouthed 'there's no way it's gonna-' as he watched the other chunk sail through the air, splatting on the side of the hovering Aki's head. "Oh shi-" Kip started, then bust out laughing, sitting down in the wet mud to steady himself. "Sorry, didn't mean ta!" He wondered if that splash had scared Star, too, not even thinking of that object in the trees anymore.
Star was so engrossed in finding one of those axoltlthings she did not notice the ball of mud sink just behind her. She had never been under water like this and it was fascinating. She watched as a piece of Flora of some kind drifted in the water next to her. And she kept looking for one of those axoltbolts.... Ah she was never going to remember what they were called.
She was in the water for only a short time but she started to notice that the water around her was starting to turn murkier. And it was getting hard to see through. Besides where were the others?
Star turned around and started walking back to the bank that she had left the others and as she got closer the water got murkier and murkier.
She was now a little concerned. Why would the water be getting dirtier. Finally she felt the ground beneath start to slop upward and her head popped up out of the water. The first thing she saw was a large pile of moving mud. Almost like a smuck. But she knew that they did not come into the swamp all that much. They preferred the tar pits.
Suddenly the form split apart. It was Hai. And it was pointing at something next to her. Another form was trying to struggle out from under another mud creature. This one was Aki.
"Now is our chance!!" She said.
"Chance? Chance for what! I haven't seen anything!" Star shouted back at them. It was then that she felt the movement next to her. She turned and saw a glowing tail not more then a couple of inches from her face.
Covered in mud, Kip lay on the ground for a second after Hai and Aki crawled out of the pile, still giggling. It had been a while since he's had this much fun! And Ev had joined in a little, too! He did shoot a grin over at Lullia, hoping she was at least amused at their antics, before hearing Hai shout "Now's our chance!" Suddenly snapping to attention, the sloppy brown pup looked over towards Lullia, and the glowing...thing beside her in the water.
He was still hyped from their wrestling: acting quickly, Kip dashed towards it, slipping and flinging mud absolutely everywhere. He ran past Aki and Hai, and dove right into the pond...slipping at the last second, missing his mark and diving into Star instead, tumbling into the water with a loud splash.
Hai winced as Aki yelled "Now's our chance" loudly next to his ear in the tangled pile. Kip then made an even bigger mess by racing by splattering mud everywhere and diving on top of Star. The splash of that collision was quite sizeable and knocked the axolabeb tail briefly in the air...but without an axolabeb. The glowy tail clearly wasn't attached to an axolabeb any more, which probably explained why it hadn't high-tailed it out of there immediately. Hai shook off some of the mud as it really wasn't super comfortable being this dirty, before moving over in a much more controlled manner, sliding into the water, dodging Kip and Star, and nabbing the axolabeb tail. He took a bit of time to try and get the mud off of him in the already muddy waters, but nonetheless dragged the tail back to land. He wondered if he could float in the same manner Aki had, but despite concentrating he couldn't quite figure it out. So he continued to trudge for now, dragging the axolabeb tail back to the rest of the group. He'd have to figure it out eventually, though. The mud and how uncleanly it made him feel was going to bother him more and more...
Aki was left where all three were pulled together, and you could see divots in the mud from everyone moving around in it. She then snapped back into reality, and was very uncomfortable from the mud covering her body. She made her way back to the water, and her hair would've stood on end if she had any. She had never been in the water, except those few times she accidentally gotten the bottom of her body wet, and even that was the worst for her. She hated getting wet, you get cold and drippy and so... bleugh. But... she had no choice. If she wanted to get clean, she would need to go in the water. Slowly, Aki lowered back towards the damp, muddy ground, and inched forwards. The water of the swamp was cold. She kept going, reluctantly, until she was half emerged. jussst get thiss over with jusst get thisss over with jussst get thiss over with- she kept thinking. She shook her body back and forth, letting the mud wash off. As quickly as she could, she bolted out of the water. Finally, she was back on land. Except bow she was drenched. Lovely. Aki looked bavk towards the lake, and that's when she saw Hai emerging from it. He was holding the--! Tail..? It wasnt an axolabeb, it was a small green glowy axolabeb tail. Her face quickly grew a disappointed expression. "You just got it'sss tail...?" She asked.
Evrah looked on in amusement at the four blobs. They hadn't disappointed. The sneaky hunt had unraveled from the very beginning. Even with the, rather clever, attempt at using Friendzy to keep communication up and quiet- it inevitably fell apart. One loud noise led to another and it devolved into a mud pile that spilled into a murky bath. Though they had claimed the tail the creature had left behind so... he'd give them the win for that. The splash of mud that Kip had flung at him was easily wiped off and so he would not be joining the four in the water. Which drew his attention to the only other blob not partaking in this diversion.
Though his anger had cooled significantly he hadn't forgiven her for her unwarranted verbal attack. However, he'd been nothing less than polite to her since. He even offered her his new wings as shelter from the swamps occasional drizzle and where she hadn't reverted to the initial venom she had used on him she still seemed disinclined to trust him. He was vaguely okay with that since it was mutual. However, it couldn't stay this way.
The only way this would work was if their group had solid foundation of loyalty to each other. Evrah was rather secure in his friendship with Kip now. He was fairly confident that their snekit-duo were already fast friends when they had found them. Both had seemed appreciative of their timely rescue. Even if he wasn't sure they intended to stick around for the long haul, they both seemed agreeable and Evrah had no issues with the well tempered duo sticking around. They just needed to get stronger and that would come with time. Star... was a bit of a wild card in that she had the same tendency as Kip to jump at trouble first. She was inquisitive though and if he could just channel her energy they would be golden.
Which, again, just left her.
She got along well enough with the others. Heck, she even occasionally got along with him. If you could count their 'at arms length' conversations as getting along. If she was going to stick around though he wasn't going to tolerate this. If she wasn't going to budge on her own then he'd have to make her.
"It looks like we lucked out on this one." He said to her in a light tone. It wasn't forced, he was enjoying himself, but the word choice was selected with intent. 'We'- you and I, you are a part of this with me. "I don't particularly mind the mud under foot but being caked in it like that... not exactly ideal. I'm sure you agree?" He was trying to get her talking to suss out her mood, he didn't trust that the casual stance she had was honest. Not after the last time he let his guard down with her ended so poorly.
It was rather intriguing, watching the group chasing the axelobab. They were almost amazingly inept, and she was far too distracted by the frantic scramble to mind the mess much. She'd started to relax at last, and had stopped keeping such a careful watch on Evrah, even going so far as to let a slight grin curl across her face.
She was startled out of it very abruptly when Evrah started talking to her. For a moment she froze up, eyes going wide while her pupils dilated and her muscles tensed. She forced herself to relax again as soon as she realized he was trying to be friendly, and in a moment she looked almost relaxed again, but her eyes were still just a little too wide. Nyvo turned his head calmly towards Evrah with an even stare.
"Oh, I wouldn't mind it much." Some part of her mind was vaguely upset by that comment, though she couldn't quite place why. Still, she spoke in an offhand sort of way, keeping her words as relaxed as she possibly could, even if she wasn't able to completely keep them from wavering just a little. She kept herself short and to the point, knowing that the longer she spoke, the more likely it would be that she'd trip up.
Star was pushed under water when kip jumped on her, or did he fall? She really wasn't sure. All she knew was that she had just found the axoltalblob thing when she found her self being pushed under water.
"Bleh!" She spat out dirty swamp water when she was finally able to push past all the blobs that had fallen on her. She swam to the bank and slowly climbed out. She could feel the mud and the water dripping off her. It reminded her of whenever she would fall in the tar pits at home. Although unlike tar she knew that she could shake most of it off.
And so she shook. Starting from her head down to her feet. Mud and water was flung every where. There that felt better. Then she looked where Hai was. He had a hold of a strange glowing blob. Was that a tail? They found the tail? But not the animal its self. Was it hurt? Oh she did not like to hurt things. She hoped it would be alright.
She walked over to where Hai was and looked at the tail he was dragging.
"Is that it?" She asked as she poked at it with a paw.
Hai looked at both Aki's and Star's disappointed faces and couldn't help but feel like he let them down. Unfortunately there was nothing he could do about it. With how much noise the group was making it wasn't surprising that the axolabeb had fled. They were probably lucky they even got a tail in all honesty.
He nodded to both of them and explained what he was thinking. "Yess...I think we made too much noisse...Evrah ssaid they are very jittery...sso it probably ran away...dropping itss tail as a disstraction..." He glanced back to the blob and found that Evrah and Lullia seemed to be in a conversation. Those two had always seemed wary of each other, and it wasn't in Hai's place to question it. Even now the two looked guarded so Hai hopped up and down, wiggling his ears wildly, trying to get both their attention. After all, if they were going to be a team, it'd be best if they addressed it like a team.
Somewhere in the chaos, Kip's head broke above the water with a gasp, the last one to emerge from the pool. Everyone was already out and examining the...object? "What's up, did we get it or what?" He asked, dunking his head for a second to rinse more of the mud off.
"Yess..., Hai Replied, "I think we made too much noisse...Evrah ssaid they are very jittery...sso it probably ran away...dropping itss tail as a disstraction..."
Still rinsing off, Kip rolled over on his back, kicking his back legs and tail to sort of glide across the water. At least they had fun, that's what counts right? At least, most of them did. Aki and Star might not of had the best time, and their disappointed faces had him frowning a little as well. "Well, we had fun at the very least, right folks?" He spoke up in a happy tone, satisfied with how 'clean' he was and finally emerging from the pool.
Seemed like someone else wasn't having a good time. While he was sure Evrah was thoroughly enjoying himself back in the swamps, Lullia was harder to pin down. She had seemed more casual and loose before this started, but then had become tense when talking with Evrah. He still had no idea what they'd talked about back in the desert, but that it might still be causing issues was...concerning. Nothing he could do about it now, Kip guessed. Unless one of them spoke up, they'd have to hash that out on their own.
"And at least we got somethin' out of it, we can try again later. Maybe with less mud involved next time." The pup grinned at everyone before turning back around, shaking off some excess water and beginning to walk in the direction of Onixya again. "C'mon, then, let's mosey!"

Four of five eyes were trained on her since Evrah had spoken. He caught the startle, the recovery, the attempted cover up. It was imperfect but he reluctantly appreciated the attempt and graded it as a decent attempt at that. When Nyvo's attention landed on him he couldn't resist the slight quirk of his mouth. She did have a good setup with her meowler. Perhaps, if it weren't for her guardian feline, he might have tested how true her words were and flung a little mud her way. Instead the only reaction he offered her was a deliberately slow back arching stretch. The speed was mostly to ensure that she and the cat didn't take it as a threat as he asked with a curious tone, "Hmmm, truly? Then why not join them?" A slight head tilt as he relaxed out of his stretch. "I'm sure you're aware by now that there's no need for invitation here. You're quite welcome to have fun."
All the while his center eye was on the rest of the group's antics. He saw Hai's gesture but didn't respond to it just yet as he was more focused on her. At least until Kip called for the group to continue on. Two more eyes joined the middle one to watch as Kip didn't even wait and continued on in the direction they'd been traveling. "Well, maybe next time anyway." He amended with a smirk, "It seems our guide is ready to leave now and... I suppose we have dallied enough."
Casting the small pink dino a curious look he took all eyes off of her and walked towards the others. His steps putting him between her and the group so that she'd be blocked from sight and have full view of his back. Evrah paused as he reached Hai. "Was there something you needed?" He wasn't sure if the ear wiggling had been a signal or if the other blob's ears just... itched... or something.
"Wait, ssso it was jusst the tail all along? Did I even ever sssee the axolabeb?" She quietly asked herself. Somehow this made her feel a bit better, but also worse at the same time. She shook the feeling, turning to Kip. "Even if we didnt get it, I will agree it wassss fun... in the moment. Until I realissed I was covered in mud." she chuckled.
She began to follow along next to Kip, looking back at the group to make sure they were coming. Up ahead she noticed how tense Lulia was. She and Evrah were talking about something. She couldnt understand why she seemed so frightened. Aki was new here, so she didn't really know anyone except Hai yet, therefore she coulnt assume anything. But she decided she would get to know everyone, as she suspected she would be spending lots of time with them. They were like a family. Family... She knew what this was. She used to have one. No, not here. That girl she had seen before, while looking at Miko. Could it be that that was her from a different time? She realized while she was thinking that she was having another "flashback". It was the girl again, this time appearing younger.
She was resting her head on another's leg. They seemed to be happy... "Aki" was smiling and the other one had her arm around her. The other one also looked quite a lot bigger than "Aki". Then she spoke. "Sweetheart, it's time for bed. You need to wake up and head to your room." Aki's flashback self responded as she woke up, "Huh? Mom? What time is it..." Aki thouggt to herself, Mom. So that's her name... Her dream abruptly ended when she realized she had not been paying attention. She wasnt sure if someone was talking to her or not, but she had no idea what she missed while she was daydreaming. She hoped no one noticed what she was doing and questioned it, she didnt think she would be able to explain ehat that was.
